Maybe we're missing something, but that doesn't seem that weird... Many times in certain things, you will need something from like a permanent resident, etc., or for example like in the US a ssn# or tax ID etc., to rent things or make other kind of lease or sales agreements. This isn't something exclusive to Korea. How else are they going to make sure you are not going to just run off with their equipment, or use other company's info., etc.? Just because they don't automatically trust you without knowing you, doesn't necessarily mean it's "racism".

@@mautre Yes they had all of the agreements and documents needed, so we provided to all of the necessary documents and followed all of the steps required. What made it racism was when my coworker went and then they wanted a call with me since I spoke in Korean only to tell me suddenly that we need a Korean person to be in contact, or else they won’t rent it to us. When I called the previous day this information was not disclosed and when I asked why they only said we don’t say it the first time. So in a sense how are we supposed to have a Korean person ready. They asked whether if there is a Korean or not in our company, and I was there speaking fine Korean as well. And their reasoning was we need a Korean person to talk about all the details, in which we already had the conversation the previous day as well~

@@nairadjunaedhy I understand. Sorry, that must have been really frustrating for you. Even though I am Korean, since I lived overseas for a long time, I can get treated differently than other Koreans in Korea that only lived and were raised there, so I get the frustration. Sorry that it's sometimes like that, it does suck. 😓

@ again, very sorry that even you have to face that as well ㅠㅠ and just because you or I didnt grow up there, does not mean we cannot communicate as well you know? In a sense, and I also understand its a very monogenic country, all the more reason especially since they want foreigners to come :”) needs to be voiced out. Rooting for you~!

You live in a foreign country, you follow the rules they give you. If you don't like it go home. I say this as an immigrant myself.
@nairadjunaedhyАй бұрын
@@Ohnonono123 we followed every single rule they gave us and followed every step they gave as well, they didn’t mention anything and then suddenly mentioning the need of a Korean which was never mentioned or else it became impossible to rent was never mentioned as well, which is where the frustration came from. I also know because I’ve been living in the foreign country long as well, so I always do my best to follow all instructions and rules given~

This was clearly discrimination. You can live in a foreign country and follow their rules and point out the injustices and your dislike of it without going home. It's always the same insipid "solution" with you idiots - "go home" 🤣

Nah it is just incompetent not racism. You haven't meet racism yet lady. Asian racism is wild man not like other. It ain't happen every day tho the people are usually nice.

@PCs454 maybe if you are white but this is definitely not the case for asian ppl. They are treated very poorly in italy germany and western europe in general. The racism is much worse than what a black southeast asian middle eastern or latino would experience in korea or asia.

@PCs454 everybody's experience will be different. The racism that a nonasian may face in korea would be discrimination or passive aggressiveness like getting outcasted or ignored...the racism that an east asian would face in western europe or america can range from discrimination to racial slurs and straight up physical assault. so it's a joke that westerners or non korean foreigners complain they experienced so much "racism" in korea.
