Straight up was very fun in the event. The deck just needs more cards. I added the “dark spirit of banishment” and the other very similarly named cards from another archtype, I actually though they were part of unchained they seemed to help so much.

I played unchained quite a bit in md and I can say that unchained is ass, I'm legit surprised it's having results in the tcg because the new cards did not impress me

What I love most about Unchained is that, unlike decks like Kashtira, it's far from figured out. You've got different engines that get people different results, from the Tour Guide, to "pure" (being heavier focus on Rakea to pop backrow), and the staples always shuffle around. Some people main Book, some side it, Thrust isn't 100% necessary, even though it'd be a huge consistency boost... there's so many different routes the deck can go!

Live Twin Unchained is much more fun. Live twins line eats up HTs and then you can play unchained lines. Been using a deceptive line where I’ll full combo live twins but end on soul of rage, escape, HTs in hand, with shyama in gy ready to revive trouble sunny for a draw and pop. Best board was soul of rage, escape, ceasar, and trouble sunny

tour guide is an auto include but im not happy about running it. Losing 4 engine names kinda sucks but its still worth having a 1 card starter. It has the same problem as old salamangreat lists that ran lady debug or exosister on spirits. When you get handtrapped you wish it was another name to push through. Some hands you just pray opponent doesnt have ash.

If you want to beat unchained, the best cards are definitely Nibiru, Ash, and Book of Moon. The deck can't really easily play around Nib turn 1, it also generally hates getting ashed on its first trap float, and if you book their Caesar on your turn, that shuts off like half their interactions while also denying them the easy follow up since the Sharv and Shyama under the Caesar now can't float easily

Pahantazmay i dont think is that good vs unchained just cause its only at 2400 and they dont HAVE to target ur monsters to get rid of them but maybe im wrong and along with a competent hand it might have a lot of impact, cause all you get is a single 1 card mulligan and a negate IF they target phantazmay

@Hydranox it's effect is any monster you control that gets targeted, which is a lot more flexible. But I'm also considering it because of rescue Ace link climbing. There's also dragon link, which is just as, if not more popular. That aside, you're already running books in the main, and phantazmay can draw you into it or your other non engine. The potential is there

18:30 I would say main it is incorrect but side it should be the best option. Cut it completely is definitely risky. Yes it’s very good in mirrors because they are a big resource game where both just try to link of there stuff and who ever runs out of monsters first loses.

The only downside is that there are some variants of Unchained playing floodgates, flipping them on their opponents turn and then popping them on their own turn. It's not format ruining or anything, but they can play every floodgate under the sun lol

They can, but unless another really strong deck comes along that hard loses to floodgates, it wont be optimal

Im currently playing a unchained live twin deck, its probably a less competitive deck but it does have a lot higher of a ceiling and you don't have less of a grind game because you tend to reduce your non-engine, the main issue is the 6 negate boards which you can't break through just because your non engine is too low Its good going first struggles going second

I play drnm in my version. That or 3 ash, veiler and mourner. 2 nibs. Deck is crazy going second for how much you can just delete some boards. What list are you running?

@@marvynjeanbaptiste3206 my list has about 7 non engine slots, that's enough for 3 ash, 3 imperm and a called by normally and 3 of drnm and evenly going second again with a called by, I play a fairly big engine to increase the grind game with the deck so I play 2 sarama and 2 rakea rather than one of each and the live twin main deck takes up another 8 main deck it's just less room for non ends

Unchained is one of my favorite decks of all time because it truly rewards the player that knows how to use it and how to manage your resources of top of that and their recovery is just as good, too.

I would say in generell really strong if you can do your full combo. Problem is that cards like lockbird or nibiru interrupt your combo very hard and since most people play lockbird it really diminishes the potential rhat mannadium has.

In this video Josh argues that Tour Guide is your only 1-card-combo in this deck and also Tour Guide represents any Lv3 so it's like playing 3 additional copies of each Lv3.

I watched further and I guess and I get it now, however I feel like 2 card combos are consistent enough in this deck, and all of the in-engine cards are strong enough by themselves. Tour Guide seems good, but I would never cut the twins for it, since I think that in practice you usually need several copies in the grind game, which comes up a lot.

I've played through Gozen Fire 🤣🤣🤣 but that's if player is running Phoenix or not. I don't believe any Unchained player will lock themselves in Water, there's no field Raeka or Shyama will ever be caught or kept alone, always either Fire or Darks. In some parallel universe where Unchained is Gozen Water, Shyama pops Raeka or set card on field to pop Gozen. Gozen is annoying, but not the end of the world
