Haha great reaction man - Gacharic Spin and Nightwish - my 2 favourite bands... I love watching musicians react to this track and seeing their minds blown. Usual next requests will be to "I wish I" for something heavier (or Doll$boxx which is GS side project with Fuki from Unlucky Morpheus as lead singer in place of Angie the Pink-haired singer here) which is more metal for sure. Watch out for the Doll$boxx official videos though as they're often blocked, so I recommend the live performances Brief history is that GS formed in 2009 with Koga the bassist asking Hana (drummer here) to form the band. Hana played bass too before so switched to drums...the original singer quit so for quite a time Hana shared vocals with Oreo (the keyboardist) and they had some dancers up front for motion. After the dancers left in 2018/19 they looked for a new frontperson (Angie), with Hana moving to Guitar(!) and vocals and a new drummer (Yuri - who you've not seen here). If you got this far - you asked for something more chill I suggest Alive - Semi acoustic track in the middle of one of their high-energy concerts: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXvIfWVopLShkMk p.s. I'll watch anything by GS you react to, but be warned, they are wildly different from song to song 😁

Hi Home Gnome. The only DOLL$BOXX videos that are being blocked are the ones under Victor Entertainment (JVC) label. So it’s only the songs from their 2017 EP « high $pec ». The songs from their first album « Doll’s Apparemment » are under King Records and, to my knowledge, had never been blocked. So the next reaction has to be « Take My Chance » MV, he will love Hana even more

Thanks for checking them out. GS started in 2009, with a lead singer called Armmy (Takae Ashitomi). They did a sort of highly technical punk-pop, but crossed genres a lot. They started to have a lot of friction between Armmy and the rest of the band, and then in early 2012 she left, officially for health reasons. She died in 2015; their work with her is very much worth seeing-here is an early one: “Setsunaku” kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJfdeqdoZcSrjsk The girls were all just out of high school, and you can see they were already very technical. When Armmy left, GS had tours lined up in both Japan and abroad for 2012, and needed a lead singer. For the Japan tour various singers (including Fuki) filled in for different shows, but they couldn’t find someone good enough who could also commit to the band full time For their overseas tour Hana (who was doing drums and vocals and was effectively the co-leader of the band) took the lead vocals on herself. She also happens to play several other instruments. GS had had a great chemistry with Fuki when she filled in for them, so while they were figuring out what to do with GS they contacted Fuki about doing a more metal project. This became Doll$Boxx. They wrote and recorded their first album at the end of 2012, then picked up GS again full time in 2013. They are still active, but occasionally pick up the Doll$Boxx collaboration again when they and Fuki have time in their schedules. Gacharic Spin have added more personnel (a drummer, allowing Hana to focus on guitar and vocals, and dancers who also sing). It's impossible to define them by genre. You'll find everything in their catalogue from metal and punk to electro, dance, pop and ballads. Most of their recent work merges multiple genres. Core personnel (these are also the members of Doll$Boxx along with Fuki): Hana (Hana Sano): vocals, drums, guitar, keytar, other instruments Tomo-Zo (Tomoko Midorikawa): lead guitar F-Chopper Koga (Michiko Koga): bass Oreo Reona (Reona Suzuki): keyboards, vocals Several other performers have rotated in and out of GS. Currently they list Yuri as their drummer and Angelina doing dance and vocals. Here is the most famous MV from Doll$Boxx: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6aVq2eLm56HncU

This has become my standard cut/paste job for new Gacharic Spin listeners! The band has gone through quite a few changes even whilst most of the core members have stayed: I have tried to summarize the band line up chronologically. I've not included every detail F Chopper Koga: Bass, band leader (2009-present) Hana: Drums, Vocals (2009-present) Tomo-Zo: Guitar, Vocals (2009-present) Armmy: Vocals (2009-2012, died October 15, 2015) Armmy left in 2012 for health reasons, and later passed away in 2015. Oreo Reona joined as a touring member after Armmy left, then a full member Oreo Reona: Keyboards, Vocals (2012-present) From 2013 the band employed a couple of performers to improve the stage show Mainly dancing, they also took on some vocal duties Arisa: Performer, vocals (2013-2015) Mai: Performer, vocals (2013-2018) Nenne: Performer, vocals (2015-2017) After the last performer left, Hana switched to guitar to better front the band, The band hired Yuri on drums and Angelina (pink hair) as performer (and gradually becoming more lead vocal) Yuri: Drums (2019-present) Angelina: Performer, vocals (2019-present) This is the line up you see in this video (Koga, Hana, Tomo-zo, Oreo, Angelina, Yuri) Hana is on drums in this video because Yuri was on maternity. Not sure who actually recorded the drums The sound varies quite a lot through their catalogue, for example when Tomo-zo is lead the songs tend to be much more poppy 『Lock On!!』 (the music video) is a good early song with the original singer Armmy

Hana, the drummer here and co-founder with bassist F Chopper Koga, has actually moved to more guitar and vocals. They have a new drummer, but iirc she was having a kid when they did this MV. Sometimes they will have two drummers playing. Everybody takes a turn on lead vocals sometimes. Lead singer Angelina 1/3 is new as of 2019 and obviously killin' it. You're more right than you know when you said, "I don't know what to expect"; they kinda do everything. If you want some metal, try the recent "I Wish I." Hana also does some screaming in the earlier side project DOLL$BOXX with lead vocalist Fuki of Lightbringer. They've gone through a bunch of line-up changes over the years but their live performances are typically just nuts (e.g., keyboardist Oreo dressed as a hamburger). Kudos to the director for making a simple but incredibly effective MV here.

You should try to never think like that. It's not musical accomplishment and technique that wins every time. Every musician has something to offer the world because they are the only one who can offer musical inspiration from their own unique perspective. No one else in the world can have that same perspective. Music is a conversation with your soul to the Universe. It's about expression. Comparing yourself to other musicians is a tough game that you can never really win. There will ALWAYS be somebody better than you, and likewise there will ALWAYS be those that will never reach your particular level. Just some thoughts on what I picked up from you reacting to this video. Take care!
@Roninmann2 жыл бұрын
I was being a bit more on the lighthearted side while saying these things, but I would also say I was half joking. There’s been times where I’ve compared myself to other musicians. I used to live in Nashville so running into better musicians was very common. You’re right though. Everyone has something to offer and we all know some of the best song writers aren’t even the best musicians. For me, I have a lot more fun being humble than full of myself so I take every opportunity I can get. Love the very thoughtful and positive comment you left. We could use more of that.

Great reaction and it's hard to put GS into a genre as they pretty much play all of them. Founded in 2009 by Koga (bassist, one of the best in Japan) and Hana (drums, vocals), added Tomo-zo (guitar, vocals and one of the best guitarist) and in 2012, Oreo (keys, vocals) they have stayed the same. For concerts they had three dancers (always two on stage, one also played keys when needed - Nenne). In 2019 they added a new drummer Yuri to allow Hana to move to second guitar and Angie (pink hair - who turns 21 this year) as the front person/hype.singer. One of my favorite bands (behind Band-Maid). Over the years they have created "projects" to create new identities (while remaining at the core GS). In 2012 they teamed up with singer Fuki and created the band DOLL$BOXX releasing two albums in 2012 and 2017. They have also created a Metallic Spin (heavier rock/80's metal).

They are REALLY versatile in addition to being incredible. They have some songs which are more what you would think of J-Pop with synchronized dancing, heavy grooves but not so much focus on the virtuosity. And some of it is almost Saturday morning cartoon like. I am enjoying more and more of their stuff daily. I suggest: Redline, Tamashii, Generation Gap, I Wish I, Lock On 2010 - (official studio videos), Juicy Beats 2018 live and "instrumental" 2018 live. My exact feelings when I first discovered them many years ago. They're a bit too much for some people and they're totally wild and off the wall hoping between genres, doing crazy live shows and bringing their own unique style and sound to everything they have a go at. I've been completely musically obsessed with them for over 7 years now! One of the most exhausting but most amazing days of my life was when I saw them live back in 2018. In a single day I saw them play a 2 hour show as their more metal focused side project DOLL$BOXX then a few hours later I saw them perform a 3 hour show as Gacharic Spin. 5 hours of the most intense and energetic live performance I've ever seen in a single day and they looked like they could of done another few hours as they were taking their final bows. I'm so grateful that both shows they performed that day were recorded for DVD's so I can remind myself it wasn't a dream, and relive that experience, as close as watching a DVD can to the real thing anyway! I Wish I is another amazing one off their most recent album, totally different to MindSet though, but still clearly them. What other genres do you like? Or do you just want us to hit you up with the wildest stuff they've got regardless of genre?

Cool you get it. Instead of nasa?, they just maintain multiple signed bands, too diverse & prolific for just one. Esp see Doll$Boxx, closer to metal. And even tho they started in ‘09 as rave pop rock, they’ve always been respected by metalers as part of the wave of Japanese female metalers that started about that time and is still swelling. Respected? I don’t mean interviews, I mean co headlining, and best example is annual host band at Takayoshi Ohmura’s bday/xmas solo show (he’s an Yngvie type: BabyMetal, livMoon, MartyFriedman band, on & on) They use genres as a toolbox, don’t consider musician as a job, but rather entertainers with high energy standards. They explicitly recruit high school juniors (like pink haired Angie in 2019) to keep the 30something members running (vampirically?) on “17yr old power”, they said it not me, she’s the 5th teen member (even more used as dancer/actors), not counting that guitarist TomoZo joined at age 20 in ‘09… she’d already been guitarist at 16 as backing band for tv appearances of a boy band. Drummer singer Hana recently had her 20th anniversary party for being a signed artist; she was 33 at the party…
