Silent Hill music and ambience makes me want to travel around the woods, highways and towns of the American north-west in winter. The vibe and aesthetic from SH ambience is just impeccable.
@SaturnDreamingofMercury2 жыл бұрын
I have to agree that this is a legit SH-driven inspiration. My sister and I are big SH fans and some years back we did precisely this late at night at a high school under construction and that was about 3/4ths to completion. Despite its not-even-new vintage, it looked straight up out of the Otherworld. It was fascinating because construction of all primary structures was done but the hallways were all lit up with just lines of hanging lights and no ceiling tile installation, there was of course scaffolding up and about, the top level floor tiling also had not been performed, and all maintenance alcoves and access areas were exposed and not yet cut off by doors or barriers. It looked like it might as well have been an older school stripped down rather than a new school that was being put up. Again, it straight up appeared like it belonged in SH3. There was even a good jump scare in the back room of the cafeteria where the loading doors were, such that at one (and only one) random moment an apparent draft caused them to suddenly swing out only to then immediately shut themselves. Only the adventurous spirit of the SH games could have prompted us to venture forth in such a manner and yet have an absolute blast while doing so.

@Alain Marceux Sanctuary means a safe area. So the words "end of small sanctuary" basically means an end to a small safe area, which is appropriate since when the music plays it's in a rare and very short moment of calm before everything goes crazy.

This is what Silent Hill is really about... Repressed memories, guilt, trauma, and fear of the subconscious mind. Monsters are scary and all but there is nothing more terrifying realizing you can't run away from yourself. You're trapped. And the town will take all your emotional baggage and will force you to face it head on, whether it kills you or not.

I actually believe things like this are a type of therapy almost. When I was younger I dealt with bad depression, still do occasionally but then I was much worse. I used to go on late night drives in the forest up in the hillside of where I live, driving alone, nothing but the road in front of you and the trees alongside, just like in the image, music like this playing, it's some of the best memories I have, so calming and for a while it just feels like you don't have to think about anything else in the world, it's just you and the road ahead of you. I miss it, will have to go again sometime soon.

Idk what it is about resident evil and silent Hill OSTs but they always give me the feeling you get after starting a new chapter in your life after going through something traumatic. You might have a lot of emotional baggage to carry and mentally exhausted, but you're alive, and you made it, almost like the songs remind you that while you may not feel okay today, tomorrow, or a month from now... but eventually you will make it, and you can look back at the terrible times you had and learn from them. And especially silent hill, since their games usually delve into the minds of characters who are severely depressed and/or suffering from some sort of mental anguish

_It’s 4am and listening to this inspired me to write... not sure if it’s any good as I’m too tired to proof read anymore, but if anyone wants a scary read to go with the ambience, here you go_ The worn tires spit rocks from the dirt path underneath them. Tonight is colder than it has been and is seemingly dropping. Further into the sea of trees, he drives. The car shakes and bounces as it climbs over sticks and rocks; headlights beaming against the passing trees. Branches stretch out like arms, scratching along the doors and windows like fingernails. At last, he finds a clearing and parks. Pressing his forehead against the steering wheel, he utters a broken man’s prayer, “Please, forgive me.” He then steps out and opens the trunk. Her wrapped body kicks and spasms in its chained casing like a bound wild animal. Her voice is guttural and deep like a cursing demon. From the trunk, beside her, he grabs a shovel and flashlight, leaving the hood open as he walks over to the center of the clearing and begins to dig. His eyes are vacant. The digging is done in a traumatic haze as he replays everything in his head. His movements are repetitive and drone-like. Her soft words whisper in his mind like a fading memory. That’s when he hears someone call out from the darkness. “What are you doing?” A voice asks from somewhere deep within the forest around him. He spins in a head-rushing whirlwind but catches nothing beyond his circle of light in an overwhelming forest. He doesn’t respond. _It doesn’t matter who it is, they might not be talking to me and no one can know I was here._ He can feel something shift around the trees toward his car. With a sudden gust of wind, its headlights flash twice before turning off. He takes it as a warning. Now, the night is as black as death until his eyes adjust. Before they do, the voice speaks again from somewhere much closer. “Who are you?” There’s no denying it. The voice is talking to him. “My...dog died. And I was just... putting it to rest.” He responds, fighting back against his raging heartbeat. “Babe...” Her voice speaks, smoothly into his ears like medicine. With rising tears and a shaking body, he turns toward her voice; toward the opened trunk where her wrapped and chained body is sitting up, facing back at him. “Look out,” she says with extreme effort but a fading energy. As she finishes, her body immediately begins to regurgitate blood into her wrapped casing, filling it quickly with a spreading red stain. More and more, she spews a seemingly endless amount before succumbing to a seizing shake and tumbling out of the trunk. It found him almost instantly. A strobing headache; painfully deep like a drilling bullet. He drops the shovel, and falls to his knees. His skin burns, his vision is gone, and with a teeth gritting scream, he digs his hands into the dirt before blacking out. He wakes up to the early sun.

@PoeticallyTwizted Жыл бұрын
@@newbornassassin7291 Ayyy 👉🏽👉🏽 thanks! Lol I wasn’t planning on expanding on this, but since you asked... hope you enjoy! Dried blood is encrusted throughout his chest and lap. He squints around and finds himself leaning against a tree near his interrupted ceremony. His parked car draws him toward it like a beckoning friend. Trunk still open, it laughs maniacally in his mind. His head pounds, sending a pulsating tingle down his neck and back as he staggers to his feet. Walking passed his dig cite, he catches wind of a sickening scent coming from the hole. He leans over, pinching his shirt over his nose as he peeks. Rotting at the base are the mauled remains of some unfortunate bastard. He might’ve suspected it to the be his wife, if he hadn’t remembered that she was bagged and chained while wearing only her nightgown. And amidst the gruesome remains in front him now are a hat and badge labeled “Park Ranger”. The body’s face and limbs are shredded up like a bear attack. _How did… Why is…_ He almost pukes, but instead his stomach knots up as he croaks a dry heave. Turning away in disgust, he presses on toward the car with his mind too shaken to wonder what awaits him in that trunk of his. Reaching it, a different horror reveals itself. _She’s gone! Oh my god, what the fuck is going on?! …Wait a minute..._ Leading out of the trunk, a bloody trail smears through the grass and into the woods. While already hesitant to follow it, he hears the sound of nearby hikers. In a sweaty rush, he sloppily piles the dug-up soil over the butchered Park Ranger and jumps into his vehicle. Speeding at a dangerous speed, he swerves and navigates a maze of trees until he finds the highway. Adjusting his rear view mirror, he watches his deeds dwindle off into the background. His new destination; the horizon. _It’s over! It’s finally over!_ His empty stomach growls. _First things first._ * * * The young twenty-something year old girl behind the checkout counter of the local clothing store stares at him oddly as he pays for his all black track suit. “This was for a costume party,” he nonchalantly tries to explain the bloody mess he’s coated in. “Oh, okay. I was gonna say…” she laughs loudly, immediately believing his explanation. _What a gullible generation._ “But why do you smell so bad, dude?” She questions further with an even uglier expression on her face. “It was a competition. And I figured the smell would make it seem more realistic,” He cunningly replies. “Wow. Well, it’s too much. Please go.” She hands him his bag, and he can’t help but smirk at the thought of the smell bothering her. _I hope it stings, bitch… Woah. What the hell? What’s wrong with me? I… I must not feel well. I need rest._ With cleaner clothes, and a greasy bag of fast food, he finds a room to rent; A small motel where the lost flock to to commit their dastardly sins. Roaches scurry under the bed and behind the nightstand, thin walls shake from some fat politician banging his curvy secretary next door, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if a few filthy needles were still in the bathroom, left behind by last night's junkies. He showers there anyway, and when walking back into the bedroom with only a towel tied around his waist, he sees her. There she is, sitting in the loveseat in the corner with her silky legs crossed, smiling at him. “Ooh, nice and clean. Got a big date tonight?” She’s as gorgeous as ever but the bloody nightgown she wears reminds him of what she really is. A conjuring of guilt. He shuts his eyes, expecting her to be gone when he reopens them. He’s wrong. She’s still there, as clear and tangible as his own reflection. More than ever, he repeats to himself that she is dead. _She can’t be here. This isn’t real. This isn’t her because she’s dead!_ He rubs his eyes again. “Stop!” He shouts as he starts to realize that she isn't going anywhere. “Oh, don't be like that. I thought you'd be happy to see me.” Hallucination or not, the woman’s voice is hypnotic. Each word a golden drop of ecstasy melting him like butter. He wants to believe his eyes but is afraid acceptance of this impossibility would mean a full submission to insanity. “No no no don’t do this to me! You’re dead!” “Yes, I am.” “Okay, then what are you? A ghost? Some fucking figment of my imagination?” “No, I’m just a part of him. A part of YOU now. We all are.” “All are?” “Yes, there are others like me. And nearly every single one of them is on their way here now…to get to you.” “Why?” He asks, terrified of whatever her answer might be. “To take control. You are their key to life.” “You’re obviously not Kim. You just wear her face, so why aren’t you trying?” “My god, Marcus,” she exclaims, standing up from the chair, “I may be a part of him but I’m still me.” Stepping closer to him, she runs her soft palms gently over his freshly washed body and says, “And even though you killed me... Well, I guess I still love you,” her voice suddenly changes to the deep rumblings of an angry spirit, “And this bitch is stubborn.” As she delivers her growling statement, half of her face ripples like boiling water and her left eye flashes a glowing yellow hue. She winces, pushes away, and grunts before saying, “I have to go. He can sense when I’m near you.” “Where is he?” “In all of us, even you. He just doesn’t have the strength to take control yet. Switching weakens him. That’s why I thought it would end with me. But you still have a chance to stop him! You just have to act now, before he regains his strength.” Just then, the high beams of a black SUV shine over the entire motel as it pulls into the parking lot. Marcus looks between the blinds and watches as a disciplined unit of five men step out of the vehicle, strapped with fully automatic rifles. “I’ve got to go. You take care of that.” “That!? Who is that? Oh my god, they’re gonna kill me!” “Ha,” she laughs, “You’d be surprised how powerful he makes you. Just...don’t use too much.” His stomach growls. “Perfect. You’re hungry? There’s dinner,” she says with a wink. And just like that, she vanished; gone like a madman’s vision. Now alone, he heeds the words of his once held love...and eats.

Ever since I saw this on my recommended a few months ago, I've been listening to it with my TV screen off at night. I always get these horrible thoughts at night that stop me from being able to sleep, thoughts about my own and my family's mortality, regrets from the past, fears about the future, tearing up silently while staring up at the ceiling or laying under my blanket and just wishing I could push the thoughts away and go to sleep already. The thoughts just plagued my mind over and over and I always lost hours of sleep over it. But this, there's something just calming and relaxing about this track. I've never played a Silent Hill game so this was pretty new/foreign to me when I saw it in my recommended but I mean it from the bottom of my heart when I say that this simple upload has changed my life. It's part of my nightly routine now and just makes me feel this strange feeling of solace I've never felt at night before, allows me to fall asleep in minutes. The darkness is the place I dwell in frequently. I desire the light which is Jesus Christ. I know he will free me from this place and renew my thoughts. What ever you are going through just know that suicide is not the way out. I thought about it and have planned many evil things but it's not the right path. There is a hell and God wants you to be with him in heaven when you die. He wants to give you that peace and cure you. Just search him. You are very loved by God and knows every ounce of pain you feel right now. You are not alone. Right now as you read this, look up and thank God because he's with you. Speak to him, he wants to hear from you in this very moment. You aren't reading this just because. It's God speaking to you. It's a message. Your soul is tired and he wants to give you peace. Have a nice day or night.

I had a dream where i woke up in a car driving through the town, but i was in the backseat and the car drove itself. I got a taste for SH soundtracks and tracks inspired in Akira Yamaoka's works back as a middle schooler (Homecoming had just been released). Would get my old Phillips MP3 player and listen for hours, alone, in the dark, just mulling about life and my place in the world. Nowadays I still have those same tracks and listen to them from time time to remember simpler days, days of cold, dusk and lonely walks across the fields.

This music is so downright cozy. I love everything about it, the way you feel like you're just alone with nature itself, and not a care nor worry on your mind... It's really easy for me to fall asleep to it, despite its somewhat creepy, melancholic nature.

Beautiful track actually. It really transports me to another place as i listen and look at the picture on screen. This song is perfect for the twilight hours of between 5pm and 7pm- when the skies are dark but with a tinge of light hanging around for little less than an hour before night hits completely.

It just sounds good strangly calming this would play after the protagonist escapes hell (like a really horryfing place or situation with a murderer or something like that) and is all covered in blood finally free wiping the blood out of its face and tears start to fall as she/he slowly walks away laughing and crying at the same time its finally over after all that its finally over.
