I honestly admire your decision to drop so many books. It’s amazing how people continue reading stuff they don’t like just for the sake of finishing. We have so little time, and so many books to read that getting through something “bad” just isn’t worth it.

I feel personally attacked. I always feel like o have to finish a series I start and generally do not read multiple books or series at a time. Currently reading "remembrance of humanities past". Finished the first book. Although I love the story the pacing is horrible, half the book reads like summaries of scientific journals pasted back to back. I love science behind sci fi and don't mind technical explanations but cixin really takes it way too far and when I was around 70% of the book I really was over his writing style forced myself through to the ending. The ending was abrupt and pretty bad too lol.. But I still feel like I have to read the series until the end. Currently reading the second book. The second and third book are supposedly much better. I've read 80 ot so pages of the second book and sorta feel like I have to force myself. I just want to know how the story ends tbh. Since the story itself is good. And the parts where the writer is actually writing about characters and events are good. But when he starts explaining a physics problem for 7 pages, then has 2 pages furthering the story or just characters talking to each other, only to explain some other physics or science thing for 5 pages it becomes really, really frustrating. It's cool cixin but you could explain the same thing in a paragraph. Why the f are you giving these super super long and technical explanations for everything

I love Snicket's ATWQ, even more than the og ASOUE, I think bc it's much more aesthetic and gloomy without bad things happening. It's very much "deserted street on a rainy night" vibe and it's so cozy and funny and heartwarming while being mysterious and sad. Also has a bajillion references to (and characters from) ASOUE, giving you a glimpse of why he felt compelled to document the Baudelaire's story, and why he's involved at all. Such a fantastic series!

One of my favorite trilogies. AND, when you finish it, you can read the newer overlapping trilogy set in the same reality. Pullman didn't want His Dark Materials to be promoted as a children's series actually, there's so many adult themes in the books, but apparently publishers insist on categorizing stories by the age of the protagonists. Sigh.

@@EmiZViolet this!! I really liked the first one even though I‘m not the biggest YA fan. The second was okay and the third one was garbage. But not the good kind of garbage. Saw a comment saying that they're gonna start working as a librarian, I wanted to flex aswell (hehe) and say that I'm going to start working on a bookshop! It's always been my dream and I still can't believe that I got the job! I'm only 18 and I didn't think they would hire me, but they did! I just wanted to say that I love your channel and you're the reason why I started watching booktube again. I always saw the channels that talked about YA/ contemporary books and those were never really my type. I found your taste very similar to mine and i'm glad that I always can get books recommended to me from you! Keep on making your great videos! 💕 /Dijana 🍁🍂

"Garbage is valuable" is what I tell myself whenever I'm feeling down. XD I'm in a fairly similar boat- there are 35 series on my shelves I'm in the middle of- not counting series with planned sequels that aren't out yet or series I don't plan to continue. I wouldn't recommend continuing Name of the Wind series. The second one wasn't nearly as good as the first- not very much happens in the grand plot, and there's a terrible wish fulfillment scene that goes on far too long.. :(

I have never before met someone who has also read the David Clement-Davies books?? I absolutely adored Fire Bringer (which I see on the shelf behind you). I remember the Sight series being so so so good but it's been quite a few years since I read it last so I don't want to heavily recommend the second book in the series, but I do think you should read it. I remember it being like earth shattering to my 15 year old mind when I picked it up. Granted, I'm 25 now so who knows if it still holds its merit but it's worth a shot if you remember liking the first book so much! I also appreciate so much that you include manga in your series breakdowns. So many people don't seem to consider that actual reading and I really do think that is a shame because mangas are just so so so good. I'm glad you're enjoying them!

Is that actually his name?? It sounds like a comical character in a book that an author might make up, like the Grinch, or Pooh Bear, or Uriah Heap, not the name of the actual author. Who would name their child Lemony? What a sour name. Or did he just make that name up to sound silly?
