Every filmmaker copies previous art and just apply it to their story. Do that and you'll find your style in time. Wish you all best.

Just a tip: Try avoiding direct shots of the sun, especially when filming on a phone. The small sensor and limited dynamic range can mess up the exposure and be distracting. You can also lock the exposure on your subject to prevent the phone from struggling with it. Another trick is to use sunshades to cover the lens-kind of like an ND filter haha 😂😂❤❤

Khoreyyy! I'm also terribly obsessed with filmmaking. I have quite a few short films planned in my head to put out there, some day. I get my inspiration from movies and KZbin Channels like Life of Riza and Natalie Lynn. I know about all the type of shots there are and I'm still learning how to apply them and the emotions they express. Anddd, lemme not forget colour grading, my GOSH! :D In fact, there's a whole lot to talk about. All in all; i totally understand what you're saying. And i uploaded a video 2 days ago 'cause i believed i couldn't just be craving to edit every second without posting anything out there. (sigh) I feel so relieved there's someone that gets me. Before hand, i only knew of 2 Nigerian KZbinrs whose videos i enjoyed but weren't really my style. I haven’t had the chance to watch this with audio yet, but I want to encourage you to continue. You definitely have storytelling downpat, I’m working on a similar video on a different account and it’s going to be 1hr long. Social media was a big influence for me to believe video making is possible for anyone. I will return to listen to the full video and reply to this comment. If you have a library card you can also see if there are centers that provide recording locations or LinkedIn learning. Skillshare is amazing! It can be fun to do hands on activities. Ok, I was able to return! Please disregard my advice regarding the library, I am based in the United States. KZbin University for the win! It is amazing how you became a student of the craft and implemented elements of what you learned! The film was great and I love the follow up segment, I would rate it a 7. The whole video would be a 9; you were authentic, had different shots, editing music transitions, and you captivated attention. I like that you also set a goal for yourself and are being intentional with the craft, not doing things just because. Your channel will grow and not only that, you will. Soon to be director.
