Billet torque converter 3" exhaust headers. Solid motor mounts. 245 wide 18 " tires. Traction concepts LSD.. empire oil adapter and 6 pass external oil cooler. Runs off 3 car batteries too. Transmission also has sonnex and transgo updates. Alto kevlar clutches. Recently built running royal purple in motor and royal purple atf max in transmission

About how much is your Pt Cruiser making? Have you ever dyno it? I'm going fully built on mine but I'm concerned of the 41te transmission giving up.

As a second owner of a 2001 PT with a manual transmission, I am having fun with it. It was a show car for a few years with the original owner. He passed and after three years in the garage his wife sold it to me. She gave me all his plaques and trophies. The various themes stuff they showed it with. The car also had two extra sets of tires. The white wall cooper's were for show. I've fixed a few rubber bushings for the shifters, but beyond that the trans is fine. I've replaced a starter, wheel bearings and mainly maintenance on the breaks. With over 200k miles and getting 20mpg, I use it as a daily driver. I won't do the show car thing, although I could, but I don't have the money and energy for that. The original owner swapped a ton of things for chrome versions and kept all the original parts. I realize I couldn't get much for a PT if I tried to sell it, so I just enjoy riding and driving in it.

My rule of thumb - improvement never has to mean perfect. Drive it till ya break it. And then improve it some more. Who knows, that trans may last a while.

I'm a former DSM guy (had a 90 Laser RS Turbo FWD 5speed, 92 Talon AWD 5 speed, 97 Eclipse GS-T Spyder 5 speed - tan top, black car). Now I have an 06 PT GT 5 speed, and have watched a bunch of your videos. Guess we have similar taste in cars :D Love watching the progress of your builds, my PT GT is getting lots of love, just installed a LSD in the transmission and new clutch / single mass flywheel, have a BWS, injectors, Diablo Sport, FMIC, bunch of other goodies... keep your videos coming!

Good luck with this - manual swaps can be tricky. Not too certain how the PCM will work with the connections it formerly had to the I/O sensors on the ATX. Be sure to refill with ATF+4. The intermediate bearings in the NVT-350 are the weak spot and start to make noise after a while. Recommend that you pull apart the MTX and replace all the main bearings because you never know how many miles were on the MTX from the donor car. The transmission Re&Re in the PTs are not as difficult to remove as they are on some other cars such as Hondas.

I enjoy watching your PT Cruiser videos. Just sold one of my PT Cruisers with a manual and is N/A. Still have a lower mileage 2006 PT Cruiser Convertible GT with auto transmission. I do wish it also had a manual transmission, but it's ok. Our PT's in this part of the country hardly get any rust unless they were originally from another state. I am in Colorado btw.

They put 2 diff manual trans in the Pt Gt G288 and the T850, If you don't know off hand the G288's reverse is towards the driver and up next to 1st. The T850's is where you would normally find reverse under 5th. Good luck with the swap hope it holds up for you.👍

For any serious 41te transmission. To be build up string. You need. Kevlar alto clutches. New steels Billet torque converter with 8 bolts. Drill iut the holes in the flex plate to get more torque. Im staying Auto. Toledo seal kit. Sonnax accumulator pistons. Transgo updates. A good transmission builder fir the bench job. Royal purple atf Max.. bigger transmission cooler.traction concepts LSD.. borg warner updated transmission solenoid pack.

While the gear ratios may not be "Optimized" for boosted applications, you may find it doesn't matter as much as you might think. I put a 60 mm turbo on a '95 Nissan D21(Hardbody) pickup, and it really woke the 5 speed up! Before, it seemed like you would slowly, ponderously work your way through these rather long gears, then, suddenly you're briskly rowing through them! I wish I had done it sooner!

We have a 2002 pt and the door locks have been going crazy like it's possessed they continuously go up and down on their own, have you heard of this before? Can't find a video on replacing door lock switches on a PT Cruiser. thanks

The only difference to my understanding is a slightly more mild tune on the PCM! If you tune a non-GT turbo it will be exactly the same.

Hi Jimmy, I also have an autostick GT. I believe you have a Stage 1 PCM right? So what happens when you keep it in any gear (while using autostick) while taking the PT to the top of that gear? My non stage PCM forces my car to shift even when in autostick mode. Does yours?? Thank you, I really hope you can help me. I LOVE your vids!

Congrats! I am looking at buying an out of state 2004 PT Cruiser GT (>87,000 miles) with manual 5-Speed. Just waiting on Lemon Squad to get back with a report - stupid hoIiday weekend. I am assuming they're fun to drive? I've only driven the automatic standard PT Cruisers and they're ok but they feel somewhat underpowered to me. My other car is a 1992 Miata. Cheers!
