You should check the cam sensor plug it plugs in with the coil pack alot of people swap them by accident

I'm on my second one and still love the PT Cruiser. Other than changing the water pump, it's fairly easy to work on. There are much worse. Scotty Kilmer changes his mind every week about everything so I don't watch him any more.

Tip: Undo and remove the upper strut mount bolt and only loosen the lower one. The steering knuckle/hub then can pivot to the exact angle of the lower control arm's ball joint grooved stud. Put a very small wedge chisel (or screwdriver) in gap of the pinch the bolt that holds the lower control arm to the ball joint stud. That makes it even easier. Make sure the groove in the ball joint is aligned to the interior of the car. Once you do that the ball joint stud will slide into the steering knuckle without the use of a jack, beating on it or using pry bars. And you can see the ball joint stud groove and move the control arm up/down a bit such that the pinch bolt just slides right in. I just did one. Had I known this info (versus figuring it out) the job would not have been difficult at all. If the knuckle/hub does not want to move inboard, then spin the disc because the half shaft has become disengaged with the transmission and once aligned (you can feel the gears) it slides in and out easy enough to do the fitment by hand. Also a good time to do the sway bar bolts (not really links on this car). Car drives like new. Appreciate your video and insights and the time you took to pay it forward. Hope this tip helps those doing the repair. Best of luck.

What if you mark the orientation of the camber bolts before you take them out, would that keep the caber adjustment correct?

now 2024, paid over $900.00 to have fix it shop do it . ran through pretty deep water puddle after big rain, very bad location for electric item, like putting your entertainment center under your kitchen sink elbow/trap. also if power steering canister (common problem [O ring goes bad]) starts leaking fluid drops on alternator. who ever signed off on this location for alternator should have their ears boxed., in my case the water ruined it.

Try doing this on a Turbo PT/GT, your in for a real fight

Enjoyed watching your video. I have the exact same vehicle and color. Recently took it in to get work done and it was the second time a mechanic has told me to not put anymore money into it since its so badly rusted. Its in the shop now getting a new muffler since the existing one is badly rusted. I keep hoping that if I give it some TLC it'll be just fine because I can't afford a newer vehicle right now. Watching yours makes me proud to have mine though.

Hey, man! Awesome video. I’m in the process of doing this swap right now. Did you have any issues with the engine oil dipstick tube lining back up on the plastic manifold? It looks like the mounting tab is in a different location compared to the aluminum manifold.

7:36 put the axle back through the wheel hub assembly and put the axle nut on a few threads, then use it like a slide hammer. You might have to clean the splines up and wd40 them, but it works.
