As a woman transitioning early 40's I appreciate your video since I moved a year ago and went through a similar process feeling like I was getting ripped apart from pieces I wanted to keep forever. Now I know I did well because my taste and body shape changed so holding to anything I will not wear anymore was just cluttering my closet. We have a 125 year old house with narrow closets. I like most of Emily's choices. That being said, gotta disagree on gray. I felt that way when I was in my 20s, but as a 62 year old, gray is softer around my face than black now, but then I'm embracing my gray hair as well. Free highlights Enjoy your new chapter!

Loved to watch this, such fun. I decided a long time ago that I would not try and be trendy because styles and trends change too frequently. I just wear what I love, I don't care what people may say or think. I say "you do you, and I will do me"! I loved a bunch of stuff you got rid of. I guess I'm not crazy about a really busy looking ensemble. People have frequently told me that I look well put together and classy, but I am probably "dated" at times. I am ok with that!

I have long hair nearly down to the middle of my back but ever since I saw your Pixiebob from a while back, I fell in love with the style. My stylist said said I can pull it off so I’m getting my hair all cut off! I’m 71 and am told I certainly don’t look like it but just about everyone. This will be a huge change for me but I’ve always been into fashion and beauty so I can’t wait. I also cut my hair. I decided that if I didn't like it, it will always grow back. I actually got brave from reading her book. I remember her saying that if we don't like the short hair, we let it grow back and we might even like some other length of the grow out. She was right. I let it grow out, and now I prefer the mid-length.

Thank yu for this timely and great fun to watch video I At the end of 2021 after I had lost quite a bit of weight I set myself a target - to go through my closet and wear every single thing at least once this year - I was shocked to find how many things I had stashed away and completely forgotten about, things that still had the price tags attached I'm ashamed to say, but I'm working my way through it all gradually, giving away things that are now the wrong size or that I no longer like or that I just KNOW I'm never going to wear, or that I look terrible in and I've stopped saying to myself 'that's too good to wear just pottering around the house in! Nothing is being kept for best any more and it feels so liberating!!

This was a BALL! Like others, I fell in love with Emily. What struck me the most was her confidence in purging (which helped you be more trusting) but also her willingness to let you weigh in (respectful). Now to weigh in on the GREY -- I love grey, but this video made me realize I may be using it as a crutch because as a somewhat introverted person, I feel like it helps me to visually "disappear". I wear so much grey that my daughter-in-law jokingly refers to them as my "groutfits". I think when I do my next closet cleanout (which might be soon since I feel motivated now!) I'm also a Fashion Designer, FIDM graduate. Gray skirts work really well with a rose, wool jacket, & burgundy silk blouse, black belt, & burgundy suede boots. A rose colored jacket would bring out the light rosy pink in your cheeks. Also a gray jacket works really well with a turquoise blouse, black skirt & teal suede boots. On the T.V. screen, your beige colored blouses wash out your complexion, so you might dye them, into soft colors. You might want to rethink getting rid of any gray wool.

Having done this for many, it makes the journey so much easier to have help! I usually start by having clients try on their favorite piece (you know, the one that makes you look and feel like a million bucks) and use it as the new standard for your closet--then it's easier to identify your true "keepers" and what to toss. This was a fun and very educational video! And I bet Jeff Bezos is applauding! 😂 For some of us, changes in health also dictate what you can/should keep vs donate. For instance, I have developed osteoarthritis in my feet. I recently discovered that I just can’t wear a lot of my booties because they kill my feet. It makes me very sad, but I have to be realistic. So I will be donating them… except for a pair of black booties I wore when I met Johnny Depp backstage at a Hollywood Vampires concert! That’s one of those “amazing memories” pieces that you just have to hang on to! 😂

So much fun! I'm reading the comments and thinking about the issue with the color gray. It just sticks out like a sore thumb amongst all the warmer and neutral tones in her clost. It feels like a mismatch with the other clothing in the closet. If Emily came to my closet, she would see all the beautiful cooler colors that go well with my grays like burgundy, Dusty rose, aqua, charcoal, light wash denim, lavender. I'm a huge fan of gray, but it's because I found the shade that looks amazing on my cool light skin tone. I look terrible in mustard, rust, Olive, and most browns. To me it really doesn't matter what colors are trending, it's does a color make me look and feel healthy and vibrant?

I would have never thought of dying clothes. I remembered dying prom dresses back in the day and purses to match. What a fantastic idea. I’ve dyed shoes for years. When I couldn’t find a perfect black shoe for work, I searched for the perfect “comfortable” good leather shoe, and took it to a cobbler and had them dyed.

Ooooofff! I feel such a relief after that decluttering. What a weight off my shoulders! LOL I love decluttering and organizing. My closet does not have the space in it that yours does so my shoes are on a shoe rack behind my door (not enough room to keep them in boxes either). When I clean my closet, I organize by color: black, brown, navy, grey (I happen to love grey), burgandy, and so on until the color scheme gets lighter and lighter. Depending upon my mood on any given day, I can put my hands on that color. I certainly love your street chic and no matter how played down an outfit is, you make it look classy because you are a class act! Thank you for another great video!
