Jess Piper works the sheep all the time. It’s really quite funny to see her jumping after the sheep and they jump back at her. She really has had some great barn days so I know that taking her and stick her in a room all day wouldn’t be the thing for you made the right move, she still your dog it’s just like grandma’s watching her until you get home. Families have to do what they have to do. That’s the best situation for the home.

I did the same. I moved from my parents' house to a small apartment downtown, but I left Ericka (my standard schnauzer) at my parents' place where they had a house and a large backyard. The funniest thing is that, after I moved out, my parents couldn't say my name because the dog would go all over the house looking for me. They would say "the kid" or "our daughter", etc....

I knew when my son brought home a rescue dog 7 years ago that we would be keeping her when he left for college. “Dixie” is always here for him when he comes home and she’s happier with the wide open space to run and be. Piper will miss you of course, but she will be just fine out on the farm.

Not worth worry over Jess. Pipper is already pushing Ewes naturally and growing out of those trouble months. You have a job to do, finishing your degree. Hopefully no one goes down that road here. Very glad you are doing well and adjusting to the return to campus. It's been an experience for my daughter. Consider online delivery through viola. I save some serious money that way and decide when the delivery happens within an hour window.

Piper will be fine. My daughter got her first dog when she was 14 and their bond was instant and strong . When she went to college he stayed calmly with us in his familiar surroundings. He was always happy to see her come home, but was contented to be with us when she was gone.

Tweaking my memory banks. The main thing when I moved from home to shared digs nearer college was stereo equipment and all my lps. We lived on French toast and sludge. Sludge (our name for it) was a ham bone set in a large stockpot (borrowed from Kit's sister Robin) and every possible bean, pea and millet thing from El Molino Mills joined the hambone with water to cover and was left on an eensy-teensy flame overnight. We baked our own bread to have with it, eating it for most of the week. By the second day, it had thickened to where sludge was a perfect descriptor. It was actually pretty good. There were no coffee machines in those days -- or computers or smartphones. Instant coffee soon gave way to stovetop percolators and they in turn to drip with paper cones and, for me finally, Bialetti stovetop espresso dealie-boos -- but that was some years later. Good luck studying! Piper will be fine. She can Skype with you and you with her.

Yeah Piper! She's a family dog. Tater is a cat, but he was my son's cat in Kentucky, until Paul went into the Army then he stayed with me and the other 2 boy cats. The 3 cats and I moved to Oklahoma. My youngest daughter came to Oklahoma for grad school and started talking about getting a cat....Tater had started sleeping on my pillow (which really made me crazy) so I suggested that Tater go live with her. It worked well because when she had to travel w/school and the Army, Tater came to stay with me and his two "brother cats" and was happy to see them! He went to Washington State, South Carolina, Kansas, and now in Texas and is basically in charge of the 18 mo old granddaughter, Avie. He's been a real family cat for 13 years 😂❤

A wise decision with Piper. You have to do what is best for your pet. I worked away from home and my dog stayed with a senior couple for two weeks and was with me for two weeks. We did this for nine years. She would not eat the treats the seniors gave her at my house. She wasn't allowed to bark at the sitters, she could bark all she wanted at home. After the job was over she was home but if we went to the sitters for coffee some days she would sit on their deck and not move. We would laugh about how it looks like she is planning for a longer visit. I would go back in four hours and she was willing to leave for home. Piper will adjust and she knows that you are her main person and when you are ready she will go with you and she will really enjoy the visits to the farm.

Your plan for Piper is a good one - you’re considering her well being first, which is great. But as a fellow renter in Ontario, I think you should know that a landlord can’t legally forbid pets, and they can’t evict if you have one. I also got a dog at a vulnerable time in my life and that’s when I found out about this - my landlord had no say.

Jessica, No explanation needed. My Mum left me her dog 5 years ago when she sadly passed, I do have a brother and sister but my brother is barely at home because he stays with his girlfriend who has cats and my sister has cats too and her cats do not like dogs. Plus i have the dogs sister and I used to have a staffi who was 13 and a half when she sadly passed 3 years ago, she was friendly with most people and all animals. I'm sure your Mum and Dad are loving having your dog Piper there. Xx Your room looks awesome xx

Jess we all knew that when you got Piper you got her for the journey that you had ahead of you and you needed her for that. But now it’s time for you to return to college and you have to do that without her. Your Mom & Dad understood that too and if anyone doesn’t get that simply ignore them.
