I think people love this sketch (as do I) so much is because we all tend to lie about mundane things in our lives. A sketch like this calls it out pretty bluntly. Like when someone asks you "how's your day going" and you respond with "good", even when it isn't good. Or when your ego compels you boast about statements that become exaggerated or untrue like "I never lie" or "it was the hardest thing i've ever done"

"Lie detectors" don't actually detect lies; they detect an increase in heartrate, meaning being worried enough that the "lie detector" will be wrong and people will think you're lying can cause the machine to give a false positive, and people will think you're lying.

+Ginger Walrus they work just fine(not like most people believe they do), but it's just a tool, a tool to be interpreted by humans in conjunction with their own abilities and judgement to then determine if you actually lied. The tool can easily be fooled, but it's not the tool that determines if you lied, it's the human you are lying to. It's nearly ancient technology at this point and should be obsolete because it has more problems than benefits.

I actually came up with a paradox for this. If Adam says that the lie detector beeps at everything he says and the lie detector doesn't beep at that it means he's telling the truth yet that statement wasn't beeped at. And if it does beep at the statement that means he's lying but the lie detector HAD beeped at everything he said.

+WingsOfFireFan That second think could be a lie and not a paradox, because the negation of it is that "something of what I say is not a lie" which is allowed. But yes, that first thing about sentence is pretty cruel paradox. :D
