Liverpool fan- I like Sterling, but he failed to show up in any of our big games, especially after 13/14, So I think it’s ridiculous to blame the club on the fact he didn’t win trophies when he should have been the star player driving the team on but he was a ghost 90% of the time. At this stage of his career he should be happy to play regular football for a big club and be paid a wage which far exceeds his ability level. Sterling isn't... he's great at taking players on, and getting into space, but he's not worth 50 million. I'd love to see him succeed, but unfortunately if he can't hit the ball cleanly at his age he never will. There's not much scope for improvement, Sterling with quality in front of goal would be of Neymars quality, truth is... there's loads of players like Sterling. Quick, intelligent, but what separates a 'good' player to one of the best in the business (a 50 mill player) is the end product, which he doesn't have just like so many others. I predict he'll just turn into another Walcott or Lennon ect ect. You have to remember sterling is still only 20 years old, he still has a long time to strengthen his technique. Yea he needs to sharpen up his shooting, crossing, and tactical awareness, of which all come from age and experience. And when you pair that with the likes of David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, etc behind you your bound to improve, 20 is still young enough to adapt to a differeing philosophy then the one he is accustomed to. Is 49 mill too much, well yea when you consider an 18 year old ronaldo was purchased from sporting for what would roughly be about 17-18 mill today. But for a 20 year old to be holding down a first team spot at a club like Liverpool, its a bit different then an 18 year old at Sporting, the club must see some future in him if they were willing to offer what they pay the captain. The whole point is to produce the finest footballers possible how can they do that if they don't face challenges, it goes double for english players in an english league becuase historically english football teams tend not to be as strong at the highest level

Personally I think it should be capped at 100,000 a week for top flight footballers. You played thorough school, under 20, under 21 now senior football. Clearly this is more of a passion then a job, so keep wages capped. Especially when you can't perform against the likes of northern Ireland. He played shit and that's international level. Rooney was a prime example on 200,000 a week and he was lazy and inconsistent. #GreedNoPassion
