A follow-up video to the one I just posted about the work I had done. First and foremost, I don't work on cars for a living, but if you have been driving a car for a long time, you tend to know how it works and what to point out when problems happen. I just wish others would take this into consideration when mentioning what the problems are.

That's too bad that happened to you. It appears the cable isn't even connected to the lever! Is the issue now resolved? Real glad to have a great local mechanic, for the things beyond what I can do. Fixed the first time, and done.

Yeah it's connected, but I think it's just worn. It will be going in again this coming Saturday.

Same goes for the computers. Many salesmen and technicians act like the customers are dumb and have no idea what they are talking about. I have a degree in electronics and know what I'm talking about! They treat you like an illiterate. That's why I try to fix the issues myself if I can. Self-repair is a valuable skill, and it can save you a lot of money.

Yeah, sometimes they just need to know the customer might actually know stuff too!

I went through this same exact problem on my 93 Miata after replacing the rear calipers and a quick search on rockauto shows the 626 uses a very similar setup for the parking brake. Basically on the backside of the calipers there is a cap you unscrew to access an allen screw that adjusts the caliper pre-load on the pads and most shops are seemingly unaware of its existence. With the wheel off the ground and the parking brake off you turn in the allen screw until the pads seat on the disk and the wheel drags, then you back off 1/3 of a turn. Obviously the shop should address the issue but if they give you a hard time it's not that big of a deal to adjust. Good luck!

Yeah, when I bring it back to them, I'll see if they can be adjusted further, but if not, it needs a new cable. Hopefully next time they will actually check EVERYTHING before calling it complete.

They probably forgot to bleed out the air or your brake shoes needs to be replaced.

Nice car! I’m sorry it’s not working as it should. I have a quick random request, can you do a video of the horn honking? I’ve always found it interesting with the different horn sounds even though it’s not a big difference, it’s still fascinating

If you go to mom pub shop and tell him what you just said in the video and ask them to change just the part that you wanted to change that should do it without question is these bigger service type shops are the problem, mom and pop shops are usually pretty good with customer service and not try to sell you on other shit because that’s not how they make their money they make the money from return customers But unlike a big name brand shop, they don’t have the advertising support so they have to rely most the time on word-of-mouth so generally speaking there usually more careful about screwing over peoples cars

Yeah I definitely do consider that sometimes. I guess the issue is, it's hard to find one, so it seems at least. Once I get this thing fixed. I guess we'll see where it goes from there.

I’d demand a refund and go elsewhere. Give them a few days and then contact small claims court.

@Sharkie626 Did you say that you were going to be extremely upset if the problem is the cable or not the cable?

Oh yeah, you need your car fixed, move to CT hun! I'm telling you right now, ignition coil for a 2000 Camry? 3 hunidollas! That's a good price, my girlfriend told me, and _she knows cars._ That price is out the front door! In all fairness, they may very well have "tested" it. Carlos had Paco get in and pull the parking brake. They speak different dialects so they can't communicate that the parking brake goes all the way up. So Paco put the brake on, and then Carlos tried to turn the wheel by hand and it didn't move, while the car is on the lift. Yeah, big difference when you put 3000 pounds and an engine on it.

Man if her car ever developed a transmission problem, I'd love to see what she would say then! Or possibly they tested by pulling up the handle, seeing the wheels weren't moving, but somehow not knowing the car is front wheel drive. "Wheels aren't moving! It's good!"

It sounds like you've given this bozo mechanic/garage ample opportunity to get it right and they keep getting it wrong. Why don't you just take it somewhere else?
