If you were to "sugarcoat" a sentence, you would make it more easily digestible, you're trying to say something in a way that wont hurt them. Obviously, by proxy, not sugar coating something means that you won't do that, usually as a sign of respect. Due to the context of being used in fighting games in these videos, however, it instead means that the person is actively trying to hurt the person the combo is being used on.

To sugarcoat something is to make someone more likely to ingest something. You don't sugarcoat a pill to make it digest easier, you sugarcoat it so that the child eats the bitter medicine. To sugarcoat something is ti describe it in a favorable light. You are deceiving your listener by telling someone about something while emphasizing the good parts and downplaying the bad parts. You are hurting your listener by sugarcoating. If you say "I'm not going to sugarcoat it", you are declaring that you are ripping off the bandaid and telling the hard, honest, and brutal truth. You aren't trying to hurt your listener, you are letting them know straight up that shit sucks and there is nothing you can do but cut your losses and deal with it. Let's say your car broke down and I am your mechanic. If I were trying to sugarcoat it, I would talk about how well your headlights are working and how your alternator is amazing and that your battery is in top condition all while dancing around the fact that there is a piston sized hole in your engine block. If I wasn't sugarcoating it, I would go straight to bringing up the damaged engineblock and discussing what needs to happen to repair or replace the damaged parts. Sugarcoating is making the pill easier to swallow. Not sugarcoating it is letting the bitterness of the pill shine through.
