Sarah is a sweetheart😭 turning off his emotions and not conecting to other people in order to avoid additional heartbreak, , that makes Joel such a 'relatable' character. Joel showed even before Sarah, that he had a brutal side because when they were trying to escape in the truck he was telling Tommy to mow down those fleeing people. Tommy's like 'don't you see all there people in from of us. Joel, 'I don't care, keep going'.

You realized a small detail that most people didnt realize, they did not eat the pancakes cake nor the cookies, the cordyceps has been spreading through mass/pasta/doughs and that is revealed in a newspaper in the game that you can completely miss really easily.

@@CharTurner6928 it is implied in the first chapter in the prologue that if the fungi mutated because of global warming withstanding higher temperatures it would explain how it survived the baking progress. This was actually hinted many times in the podcast of chapter 1 and in the whole chapter, like joel forgeting to buy pancake mix and the birthday while him and sarah declining the offer to cookies.

Apparently the largest flour mill in the world is in jakarta, and that's why they mentioned jakarta. So the fungus probably came from the flour, and the mill/factory probably supply a lot of food manufacture around the world

It's been a hobby for me to introduce people do this game and story for many years now 😁 first time i played it i was 9 and i remember every single minute of it and since then i've come to love and apreciate even more as the years has past... to now see people as yourself experience this story for the first time as a show is making me smile so much 😆 i do recomend trying as hard as you can to avoid spoilers in every way possible and just enjoy every moment of this journey... @@NiaMakiReacts To be fair it's hard to say how much this show will adhere to the story beats of the first game. *A LOT* has already changed in just this hour. (From how the infection started and spreads, to the reasoning behind Joel willing to take Ellie) Plus a lot of little micro scenes that make a big difference in future character motivations. So I wouldn't feel too bad if you get a game *Spoiler* since we're all kind of going in blind.

The “zombies” in the last of us aren’t zombies. Zombies are reanimated dead people that feed on the living. The infected in tlou aren’t reanimated it’s a cordyceps (fungus) that attacks the host keeping it alive to spread and infect more people. This means the host is still alive and aware of what is happening without any control of what they do. So far this aspect hasn’t been explored in the show but in the game you can hear some of the runners (first stage of infection) crying because that’s pretty much all they have control over but even then it’s just a noise they make. Also 5:45 you we’re watching the backstory of the watch unfold.

This instinct facilitates the spread to living humans in a cases where a human is able to avoid death and only suffer a bite. But there is nothing to indicate that they're willing to just bite you and run away as they cackle with glee for having pleased their fungal master. They avoid other infected but that is again a product of a base instinct instilled by the infection.

Cordydeps does indeed keep it's victim alive, by, as the intro explained, preventing decomp by producing antimicrobials like penicillin. AS such, infected can stay mobile and a threat to people for a time. Eventually though decomp will set in after enough time has passed, and at this point, the fungus will merely continue growing and eating what remains of it's host. The body becomes a source of a new large fungal fruiting body, and will spread from that central point as far as it can.

10:35 VERY! 10:43 There are a couple phases (I won't name them), but the first one is called Runner...for obvious reasons, lol. 11:49 This is true to the game, and it left many of us feeling pretty gutted, and the show captured that feeling a dialed it up to 11. We didn't get to meet Sarah the way the series introduced us to her--we spend a day with her and her loss is so much worse here, IMHO ='( 14:14 I've got bad news. It only gets worse from here. Please stick with it, as the story really is good. Particularly Joel and Ellie's. The world we saw at the start is gone, and there's a new one, hell. Everyone sucks, as you're about to see. Some just suck a little less than others, but EVERYONE sucks. 15:13 True, but instead of hanging them, why not expulsion? I suppose they killed them because they can't deal with those folks joining the Fireflies or becoming a runner they'll have to kill later, but this is cruel. But like I said up top: everyone sucks in this new world. 20:07 Fun Fact: this actress, Merle Dandridge, is reprising her character Marlene from the video game. IIRC, she's the only one to play the same person that we'll see in the series. 22:11 the final phage of an infected person, I assume. If I'm correct, we'll see sooner rather than later... 23:29 When Sarah died, Joel died. He had to become someone else to live in this new, harsh world ='( Joel isn't someone you mess with; hence, Robert's problem and why he tried to figure out what to do with Tess. 23:48 I think you missed it. Tommy worked with Marlene. She took Tommy from him, and this is why he wants nothing to do with Fireflies. 25:23 These areas are pretty big in the game. Everyone has a job to do, some people have to be soldiers. This is the price of living a relatively safe life. Joel has a side gig, but he's sort of laying low, doing odd jobs most people don't want to do. He doesn't want to join the military because of what happened to Sarah, and he wants nothing to do with the Fireflies either. He just wants to get by. 26:19 Yup! Get your tissues, plastic bag or whatever you need. Try not to look away, as you're missing key moments. Nice reaction. Next week should be thrilling for sure! Don't look away =D

The patrol loud speaker states. ... Curfew, to fight Infection AND Insurrection. If they are caught, and taken back inside, they will probably try to sneak out again because it is highly likely they are smuggling. If they are caught and expelled, or allowed to leave with a caveat that they can never return, others may try/want to as well. This is a problem because there ARE some people which communities can not function without. Like there are limits to strikes/walk outs in certain sectors. If you let one person out, sooner or later one of their family members that you need will want out to be with them.

A lotta Texans have a more midwestern-type accent than the classic Tyeaxan drawl, especially up north towards Austin. My dad is from Dallas/Ft Worth area and he sounds Midwestern, and Austin is what he considers "the weirdo non-Texas" part of Texas. To me the accent never stuck out as an issue

In real life (and in the game) the Cordyceps fungus spreads via airborne spores. The game has areas where they’re visible in the air like a fog, and you automatically put on a full-face gas mask to traverse the area. They changed it in the show to have people infected by tendrils, direct physical contact, and ingesting contaminated food, because realistically if it spread via airborne spores we’d be screwed. They’re microscopic, they’d stick to your clothes, even in small concentrations they’d be lethal-we’d have no chance. It’s notable that in real life each species of cordyceps only targets a single species of insect. I suspect cordyceps in TLoU would only target humans.

If it’s ok with you, I’ll try to find a channel who plays the entire walkthroughs of both the games and is awesome at the gameplay aspect of it aswell that way it’ll still feel like a film series and not the character dying every two seconds haha.
