I use a metal rabbit feeder that hangs in their cage. I cut a small piece of half inch hardware cloth and put that inside the feeder so they cannot scratch the feed out so easily. Also the feeder is hanging a few inches off the floor so they can't just walk into it. I also use pelleted feed this helps a lot with waste. Yes they are stinky but I enjoy watching and listening to them.

Your videos are appreciated, thank you. You are so much like my granddaughters. In our younger years, my wife and I raised pheasants here in northcentral Indiana as part of restoration of the population. You got to love little things. Why we loved farming so much.

I also have quail, things will get better ❤. One thing i did that i found to be helpful was i gave my quail a little plastic dome house i think they are ment for a Guinea pig or ither small animal ,they love it they can hind in there some of them like to lay there eggs in the "quiet" place. And they are cheap i have size medium ❤ have a great day and fingers crossed 🤞 for a better ratio hatch.

So cute! Living Traditions Homestead here on KZbin had quail and he had to stop breeding a group because they were so nasty. He thought he had bred it into them. Good luck!

My Great Aunt and Uncle (my heroes) raised quail. He was a fire chief, and she was a schoolteacher. I've been wanting to add quail to our farm for sooo long. Picked quail eggs! Memories :) They always had goats. And she was a flower farmer (not to sell, but she always had flowers on her huge kitchen farm table, on the side tables, in the bathrooms, pretty much everywhere). They raised Christmas trees. Everything was magical! My grandfather raised quail. The key is to also have silkie chickens with the quail. Silkies are broody and make great mamas. We have quail all over our 23 acres, but when I decide to raise quail for eggs, then silkies will be in there with them. Quail eggs are very medicinal for health. Maybe next year.

Interesting, Nicole. Like you haven’t got enough going already? LOL Unlike some people, I understand what a “sponsor” means and I have no problem with your sponsors. If someone is not interested in what it is, they can just tap ahead. They don’t have to listen for that minute or so. If we are interested it’s wonderful for them to give your viewers a discount. You never have a sponsor for a product you don’t like. Jeez! Some people are so critical. It’s not like you’re hawking junk. Perhaps when the quail can go outside in an enclosed run they won’t stink so much. Will you be able to sell the adult males for food since you have so many? You’re amazing! Just love you so much. 💕

I know you've got this totally in control, but Living Traditions Homestead out of S Missouri did a lot of great videos on raising quail over the past few years. He's almost got me convinced to start them! He covers raising, care, and even the best cage designs. In case you're not familiar with the channel, they could be a great help! He goes into a lot of great detail.

I made the mistake of thinking at 8 weeks I could process excess males but then got busy and decided to wait until 9.5weeks and within those 10 days the males started ending eachother and scalping the females 🥴 As soon as those little fluff balls hit maturity they are out for the “red stuff”. Kinda scarred me for life a bit 😅

I had the same going on with the chickens ....the chicks were horible . I ordered females and I had at least 6 roosters! I currently have two which I would have to cut but they fight with each other....I am not loving it. One chicken was so bullied as a baby that has no fethers on her chest and her butt! They are vicious! Cute but mean , I separated several! Anyway, not fun for my first experience!

you gotta be more supportive of Nicole. She needs the money, we all do, its not such a massive sacrifice and she is a one man show, I don't even know how she manages to do so much. The complaint is not very considered in my opinion. Let's be adults and understand the reality of life more.
@cynthiahurry-asoulsearcher7294 ай бұрын
@@tatiananotami1861 yes that's very true. She's busy enough for 3 women and has many hats now. I guess she just doesn't wear the old one I use to follow very much anymore. C'est la vie. But I'm sure I'm not alone in my longing for the days when I learned from her. But best of luck to her with the sponsorships. Moving on....
