I grew Katz stock in the late summer this year in a afternoon shaded area. I live in zone 6a, this year was less humid but very warm here. They did better than the early spring planted. 24 - 30 " stems. I live in WNY by the way. Is your area really warm in late July? My last frost is Mid to early October range.

Glad you are feeling better! We are the same being impatient - I start a very labor-intensive job by hand and then my hubby comes along with the correct tools and he gets it done in a fraction of the time. Happy Holidays!

I'm glad you're feeling better now! I will admit I'm a little confused why they didn't go around the poles and outside of the hoop house to clean up the weeds growing there. Didn't the weeds pop through the hoop house cover last year? If it's all open and rolled up why not zip through it with the weed eater while you don't have to be careful of the plastic?

Your Vermont compost is gardeners’ gold! Lovely stuff. In South Carolina I can buy Soil3, which is a mix mostly of compost plus sand. Great for our clay soil. Plants react happily when provided with rich humus.

I freaking lovvvvvve my BCS!! I highly recommend if you end up using it in a space with rocks, hang on!!! You'll look like a cartoon character trying to hold the handles as it shoots forward!!! And if you have the money, buy the power harrow and the snowblower attachments!!! My next purchase will be the mulch layer! Glad to hear you feel better!! ❤

I applied for a grant to get the mulch attachment! Really want it.... I highly suggest the rotary plow! Building beds, then follow with the harrow. Oh such beautiful beds...

You are the rock star of flower farmers! So happy to see a teenager appear to help you. Brad is such a great help. A man of few words 😀 Glad your feeling better. I fell you pain with “I need more compost!” How much do you think you got with the 2 totes? Looked like about 2”, but hard to tell. 🇨🇦 I’m southern most point of Canada, it was about 43 degrees yesterday so got outside for some final lawn mowing.

One thing about doing tasks 'the old fashioned way' aka 'by hand', is that it's much quieter! Machines definitely help and have their place but sometimes it can be nice just to take your time and not have the smells and noise of equipment running.

Hi Nicole I'm in zone 6b NY right along lake Ontario and the weather is very wonky this year. I bought a 8'x10' greenhouse and I still have petunias, sweet Alyssum and calendula blooming. I was wondering if violas would live through the winter in the unheated greenhouse? Glad your feeling better now!!

Have you considered to roll the tunnel's sides up completely to let the soil inside to replenish itself during the winter time? It feels like the soil is totally dead in the tunnel, the compost helps but nothing is better than let it be nurtured by the weather etc.

Electrical wires and glass in the compost makes me wonder if it was from Christmas tree recycling.

Sorry you got sick. My mom would get bad Laryngitis every fall when leaves fell and she racked them up. We figured it was some sort of fungus / leaf mold that would get her…. Maybe next year where some ppe when spreading the compost
