I saw an interview with Gigi and she said Paramore was a major influence in her teenage years along with Alanis Morissette and other alternative rock bands including Alanis Morissette and April Lavigne. She actually said she was depressed and her teenage years and Paramore help save her life. Mainly because they allowed her to express honesty to herself and deal with her situation

I don't think she's coached, I think she's just self-taught just like most Filipino singers. She grew up with very little money, raised by a single mom (who by the way passed away recently). She even said there was a time they only ate rice & soy sauce coz they couldn't afford to buy food. She said in an interview. She joined TNT so her mom could pay ppl they owed money to. If u join these contests, u may get coached here & there, but no formal long time paid formal voice lessons, which most ppl do here in the US (like me lol). Btw her mom passed away a few days ago. She battled cancer for 4 yrs.
