If you're interested in the HOVERAir X1, there seems to be a neverending deal on it 👉🏾 geni.us/EhPAJ

I have it and iove it. I own and Mini 2se, Mini 4 Pro and and Avata 2. However, incant fly them everywhere. I was just at a shoot in Washington DC where drones are completely banned outdoors. This X1 gave me so many usable shots over the 2 day shoot when we had to be outside. Its not a main shooter but its an excellent addition to the toolbox.

Had mine for a few weeks and love having it in my kit. I think video quality is ok as most people use small devices. It gets found out on 4K TVs. I too wish it had a microSD slot. It’s perfect for short form content creators on social media. You can use the app on the phone as a microphone. The app blocks out the noise. EDIT: Also your operator ID needs to be on it 😁

Great review! I completely agree with your analysis. For me it's a very intriguing product because since 2012 I record small videos of each of my days and edit them year after year, but the main problem is the quality, I can live even with 1080p but it must be with a decent bitrate and not overprocessed, let's hope the next iteration will fix that! P.S. I just got my new Lark M2 after years using the M1, can't wait to try them in my videos!

Love your straight forward content Tamara. I bought the HoverAir a few weeks ago for my channel and I love it for bits of impressive B-Roll footage, but one thing I find frustrating is its inability to cope in anything more than a breeze. It fights the strong breeze for a while before giving up and landing.

The most thoughtful video I've seen on this product so far. Nerdy question: Was this video finished in a 24p (or 25p) timeline? Asking because the Hover footage reads as pretty choppy and wondering if maybe that has to do with forcing 30p into a 24p timeline.

Agree it overexposes, is a bit slow to start up and sending clips to the Photos app is a pain. Not for vloggers but it’s a lot of fun for occasional shots of yourself in the action. I’d recommend using it as an addition to your regular camera and best use it only in open spaces with the further away settings for a general view.

X1 is a great idea, but it still needs quite some improvements. My biggest issues are of course the camera quality and the height control. You just cant use this to record, I don't know, snowboard, since you encounter a cliff and, yeah, say bye to 400€. I wish that the Mini 4 Pro, that is waaaay smarter than the X1, could have an "X1 mode" (quick turning on + quick tracking without GPS, but obstacle avoidance). It should be possible, but DJI is not gonna make it, so oh well.

Very cool! Yes I think for my taste also, in a generation or two this could be a great tool. A lot of good thought went into this product. Smart to not market it as a "drone". Nice design. Lookin' great in that back pocket too. Heyyyy 🤓
@theoztreecrasher26472 ай бұрын
Sadly the relevant Authority regulating Air Traffic Control in your country has a different train of thought to yours there. ANYTHING that flies in the air and is not flown by an onboard pilot is classed as a "Drone" under their laws! This includes oddities like Balloons, Kites, Rockets, Flying Pigs and probably Bows and Arrows (if the whim takes 'em!) as well as the usual radio controlled Planes, Helicopters and Quadcopters/Drones. Thus this would (if you are in the UK as this young lady seemingly is) require you to be licenced/registered/display your ID on the "Drone" as the regulations in place at the time require. (And they will be everchanging!) Currently NOTHING with a camera on it is in the "less than 100gms" exempt class! Also, should they become widespread (unlikely at the current price per functionality level) I can see a rising level of public animosity that will soon cause the sky to fall in on 'em. 🤔😉😊

@torinsall2 ай бұрын
Good review. I would like to see object avoidance and longer battery life (15-20min would be nice). Don't care if it has auto on/off. Maybe a built-in ND filter to turn on/off like in cameras with built-in NDs...but would rather have object avoidance.

I really wanted to like this. Thank you Tamara (I really value your opinion). I too prefer quality over convenience. I have DJI's Mavic 3 and Air 2s. To be able to not have to drag the remotes around for the simple shots intrigues me. If it was 4k I'd by it in a heartbeat. I still might. The X2 should be interesting.

It would be great if it could take the load of an Action 4. Than one could get the footage from the action cam when using this drone but I doubt that it will be able to carry that weight. Thanks for the review 🙏😊

how about attaching the Go 3s so that you can get 4K 30fps. I think it's probably strong enough to carry the Go 3s.

Tamara! I'm shocked! I really, really wouldn't use such a thing close to traffic and people - the chances of it causing some distraction or whatever and thus an accident are too high. I suspect where I live I'd get arrested even without an accident. Anyway, worth mentioning how you can record audio using your phone and it filters out the drone sound, which is a neat trick. I would love to have one of these but, perhaps like you, I can't think of the occasions on which I would use it which would justify the cost, good value though I think it is all things considered. I would most likely use it as a flying camera on family occasions I guess, or for short inserts in videos where 90% of the footage would come from something else - and the brevity of the shot would probably make the quality not that noticable. (Actually I find it looks ok for what it is). Best shot I ever saw using this was taken by a clergyman in his full robes, who used it to get a shot of himself processing into his church from outside, and then following him all the way up to the altar. Pretty hard to do any other way on his own without spending a lot more money. So - as usual, it's a tool for a job. If you don't do that job, resist the temptation to buy the tool!

I have my Hoverair X1 for few months now. I enjoy using it a lot. Especially for my hiking, running and sports. I got some nice videos of my family gathering for my son graduation party at the park. There many ways to enjoy this drone. Of course it’s not 4K but good enough for social media and memories. The noise doesn’t bother me but the battery is short.

Wow, I'm not sure why you went to the trouble to make this video since all your negatives are clearly identified by DJI before you buy one. Well, except for the lack of an Auto-Turn-Off. The best, but not only, positive point you made was that it is not a drone and, therefore, drone lovers should avoid it, also clearly identified by DJI. Especially loved your let-me-quickly-duck-behind-this-fully-limbed-tree-to-see-if-I-can-crash-it, also clearly identified by DJI. So, 12 minutes of it's-not-for-me-it's-not-for-me-it's-not-for-me-but-this-non-drone-might-be-for-you. I'm a Tamara fan, love all your other videos, and I'm thinking you just didn't really want to make this particular video.

I actually enjoyed making this video because I enjoyed testing it out. I like tech, which is why I make these videos. Like I said, it’s fun to use but it wouldn’t be a main part of my kit for the main reason I mentioned in the video, and I hope improvements can be made for the next one, which I’ll be equally intrigued to try out and make a video about.
