Jesus molina is a piano god. Technically it is insanely difficult to play stuff like this. You can tell though how difficult this is, because he didnt play it blind while looking at the cam with a big smile. 😂

@@RetroRonin-nf1qg Perhaps the term piano "God" was an exaggeration, but it still requires an impeccable amount of technique. I'd argue that the most difficult area of arrangement is the articulation, and how the counter lines in measure 15 and onward. Overall, his articulation was very coordinated and calculated. Furthermore, virtuosity across different genres calls for different technique; in classical, sure it may be technically harder, but in jazz, it calls for extreme harmonic and rhythmic complexity. Even something like this which is simpler than the traditional jazz ballade has some level of harmonic and polyrhythmic complexity, especially in measures 19 and onward. So, in that sense, the original commentor is correct in the term "Piano God," even if it might be slightly hyperbolic in comparison to absolute virtuosity. I find the arrangement far more impressive than the performance to be honest, and that is what I typically judge in performances (assuming the pianist is the arranger, of course).
@visortheinvisioner196
@visortheinvisioner196 11 ай бұрын
@@RetroRonin-nf1qg While I agree with most of the points you have made, you're failing to understand *context.* this was a casual comment made clearly hyperbolic. I am aware that there are far better pianists, I've seen and met some far better than Jesus and indefinitely better than me. My *point* is that there are reasons to appreciate this arrangement over others. As I've said before, articulation is one thing; when playing Mozart purely, articulation is a major factor that defines a lot of his music. Of course, Yuja Wang's performance is far more technical and I'd argue better, *but* there are things to appreciate about both arrangements. There are in fact things that I feel like Jesus did a bit better than Yuja Wang's arrangement, and vise versa. The reason context matters so much is that the term "piano god" was used to describe Jesus as a skilled pianist, not claiming that he was the best (hence the use of "a" instead of "the"). By your own logic, only the top level of pianists should be appreciated as skilled. However, I will remis, as I misread your first reply. However, in my opinion, there is more to consider as a pianist in terms of virtuosity than technical ability. Again, for the most part, I do agree with you on some major points.
@javihernandez2755
@javihernandez2755 11 ай бұрын
@@RetroRonin-nf1qgmaybe the original commenter did know the other pianists that you put above Jesus and still got that feeling? Your whole point sounds like calling this guy "a piano god" was taking away from other pianists, when it's certainly possible that someone considers BOTH this man and some of the others you mentioned as gods. Actually as someone who knows and has listened to all the pianists you mentioned, I can find valid arguments to like Jesus more than them. Finally, as other commenters pointed out, there's a side of subjective taste that can't be measured by technique or even virtuosity: the feeling it evokes in listeners. Extrapolating to, let's say, electric guitar, some might find Brian May a god, while others might point out some other more skilled or virtuoso players, and so on... But the feeling that person has is still completely valid. Same here
@javihernandez2755
@javihernandez2755 11 ай бұрын
@@RetroRonin-nf1qgalso, as I see you might be misunderstanding the original comment. It doesn't say Molina is a god BECAUSE of the extreme difficulty, much less JUST BECAUSE, as you're interpreting him. The two statements might be not so strongly correlated

@@Dizzyfingers2 the bit after 0:18 is obviously totally unrelated to alla turca and is a random addition by jesus molina, totally out of context.
