In this video I tell about my bad time trying out 3D printing.

Just an idea, there are some Mods that can be done to resin printed that allow proper ventilation so the allergic reaction could be mitigated. I really dont like the smell and bothers my asthma but with it being ventilated better it helps alot.

I had it right next to a window with a fan blowing outside and my wife was in a closed room on a different floor of the house. Thanks though. Have a great day.

Same reasons why I don't want to buy one but man all these stl designs have me still tempted.

Well I already bought it. If I can't find someone to buy it locally then I may wait until my wife is out of town for a conference or something and try again. Because yeah, I've been wanting to move more and more towards 3D printing rather than buying minis direct. Have a great day.

I recommend the FDM printer when you can. I got a Bambu P1S recently instead of a resin printer because it was far less hassle and the printer came highly recommended, and it wasn't even that much more expensive since it would have been almost as much to set up a room to be safe for a resin printer. I've printed a large figure and some minis on it so far and the quality on them is a lot better than I expected considering all of the information out there typically says that FDM printers don't do figures and mini's well. You really only notice the layer lines if you look real closely or print at a bad angle. The main con with doing minis on an FDM printer is that it takes a lot longer to get a better quality prints since you have to lower layer heights in the slicer. But that's really only an issue for people that are looking to sell their prints, not for making minis as a part of a hobby.

If I get an FDM I don't plan on doing minis with it. I'd be super content making terrain. A ridiculous dream that I'd have one day is to set up a game shop here in Japan and let people use terrain that I had made to play on as a way to get them interested. I've done very little in terms of terrain so far, but I do have a few videos from a project I did last year. Thanks for your thoughts. Have a great day.

Tomb of 3D Printed Horrors has videos on how to get pretty good minis on FDM printers. I don't want a resin printer for the reasons you're talking about.

Originally I wanted an FDM first, but I got the resin one because there was just an insane deal on it. Thanks for the suggestion. Have a great day.

to sum up: SLA is a mess, strict waste laws, no dedicated space, allergic reactions to nearby people.

It's really cool technology. But yeah, my wife being allergic pretty much kills it. If none of my nearby friends want to buy it and I end up keeping it then if I move to a place with a garage or if my wife goes out of town on business or something I may try again. But hopefully I can pick up an FDM soon. Have a great day.
