I'm Racing in the MINI Challenge!

Time to get back behind the wheel of a race car and specifically the MINI Challenge car. I'm going to be taking part in the one-make series at both Rockingham in April and at Oulton Park for the MINI Festival in August. To teach me the ropes on my first outing in the car at Oulton Park, I'm joined by Charlie Butler-Henderson, 2015 champion in the series and also a current driver.

Hi Shmee. I hope your well. Oulton Park is my 'local' circuit. I mainly go there for the BSB. (British Superbikes). What is your favourite part of the track? Personally for me it would be Turn 1 through cascades and tound the hairpin, but as a spectator watching last ditch attempts of overtakes through lodge and over dear-leap to finish the lap is epic.

Tim, if you're considering becoming a better race car driver, maybe you should get a racing rig and purchase an iRacing subscription. Laser scanned tracks and cars will definitely boost your confidence in track driving if you dont have immediate access to one irl

No way that roll cage weighs as much as all the stock components removed. Seats, insulation, carpet, speakers, oem wheels, muffler? That crash could have been so much worse.. slicks on a cold wet track.. tough work

Try to do some heel and toe during downshifts, it helps a lot in FWD cars!

eltiburon1983 you will have to get up to speed/high revs before u can shift without clutch i believe, thats why he used the clutch leaving the pits

Sorry Shmee you were not flat in 5th, you had selected 4th and were on the brakes. You got over confident. I have watched at that point for more years than I can remember, in fact since 1963 and have seen the same accident a hundred time before. You took liberties with the entry to Cascades - treat it with more respect. Search for masters like Jim Clark and Graham Hill taking it on 3 and sometime 2 wheels for more insight into entry into and through this corner. Having said that keep trying and keep up the good work on the channel and content!
