I know of Electrical and plumbing contractors making high six figure salaries, and I know of engineers who start out 50k or so! It's all relative! It's up to the invidual and how much ambition one has. We all have to pay our dues! So maybe as an Harvard MBA or engineer grad you have better prospects and let's just say you make double the salary of your average electrician, but you spend as much as you make and the electrician saves and invests his money! Who do you think wins in the end? Anyway these rants are pointless and my angle here is that it doesn't really matter whether your blue or white collar , it only matters how hard your willing to work and how you manage your finances!

+Eric Armada . Oh before I forget , Dee has a valid point on being debt free! whether we choose to recognize it or not there is a student loan crisis(bubble) going on right now! Universities overbuilding campuses and then over charging for those bullshit degrees that were mentioned! I think it's an excellent idea to explore the avenue of learning a trade if your not sure what you want to do in college or if your not going to get a focused degree in a specific field that you know pays well!

If you are talking about the students who major in bullshit degrees like art,political science,philosophy,women studies,history, then yes you are correct but most of the students that are going to BU,BC and Harvard are studying well paying careers careers like business management ,econ, and engineering (STEM) and are making double the salary of those jobs you mentioned

poltical science, philosophy, and history degrees are actually beneficial in the law field. Those majors work well with economics, communications, etc. to help enhance your cognitive abilities as a lawyer. I disagree strongly on your comment but I do agree with the art and women's studies.
