I recently purchased these and they are really nice and good value for me. I had one issue with one brush but I contacted the company and requested a replacement for the one brush and they sent me a complete new set within 2 days. I think the problem I had was just a fluke. They are nice brushes and they stand behind their product.👍🏼

I just bought 3 real squirrel brushes and I’d honestly recommend going with a more springy synthetic or a mix. Pure squirrel is difficult to get used to. It holds SO much water but it doesn’t spring back so there’s a definite learning curve if you’re used to springy synthetics.

I think you could possibly use the empty bag to secure them a bit more and stop them from moving around in the cardboard tube.!!! Like just holding the group of brushes together and wrapping the empty bag around the handles and then push that all down into the tube. Like mainly for traveling around with them in a bag or purse etc. Just a thought !

It was cool to see how the cat's tongue and dagger brushes are supposed to work. I was clueless -- might need to pull them back out of the drawer. :) I've got the same brushes, by another company, and have noticed that they have been branded in various configurations/price points by a lot of companies. What I can vouch for is the quality. I've used mine every day since early August and man, they are amazing. They all still have points and edges where points and edges should be. None of them have begun dividing into sections like all of my cheap acrylic brushes do. It feels like a complete luxury to use them. My two 8-brush sets -- one set of flats/rounds like yours, one a set of all rounds. What's cool is that the only duplicate of the two sets is the #8 round, which is fine by me because it seems to be my most reached-for brush. One thing to watch for with the Pinturale Arts sets is that they routinely, and often, fluctuate in price from $11.99 to around $29. There is no rhyme or reason to it, but the game is to put them into your shopping cart and wait awhile for the price to come back down. It always does. I'd be curious to know if the other brands are playing the same game?
@thefrugalcrafter11 ай бұрын
Interesting, they have been $24 since I've be watching them except for prime day.

@@thefrugalcrafter Since August, they've gone up and down at least four, maybe five rounds. Right now they are doing the dance again. Today they were $19.99. Crazytoons, eh?

Hullo Lindsay, I do believe that you have given your viewers a wonderful review of these brushes! I started with hand me down brushes from my Gran. I had been painting for almost 5 years before I went to a class on watercolor painting. I remember seeing other people with sets of brushes all the same brand and color! I know that synthetic brushes are just about the same as natural hair brushes, most people cannot tell the difference, yes, I was very jealous and I still use a mish-mash of styles and brands when painting! I have found professional artists that have been unable to tell the difference between natural and synthetic hair brushes! This was NOT the case when I started, you definitely needed squirrel or Kolinsky brushes to paint with watercolors. Thank you for sharing your opinions and showing us how these brushes preform, I would love to see them in a year or after hours and weeks of use, how have they held up? Maybe a future video will show us ? Thank you for sharing all of your ideas and knowledge with us!

A word of caution on cheap brushes. Good brushes are made by hand by highly skilled workers, requiring years of training. Cheap brushes make me wonder about workers' rights and conditions, child labour, etc. Check out any video about brushmaking by Escoda, DaVinci, Rosemary & Co and notice how much work goes into assembling them with accuracy. It is a mystery how workers get decent wages when brushes are that cheap. I would go for less quantity, more quality and more certainty about the supply chain.

I came back to this review as my 3/8 dagger has been giving me trouble, and I wanted to see if it was me or the brush. Granted, I have been painting with it a lot. It appears that I have used it too much, or the way I paint has made the tip slightly curves. Can I use the hot water trick to get the tip back?

are these brushes too juicy for gouache? to me, gouache consistency is what makes it difficult, and since the opacity of gouache affects consistency so much, it seems a ⇾ relatively ⇽ stiff brush is always a more versatile brush than a floppy one, even tho it hold more water.
@thefrugalcrafter11 ай бұрын
I think you want a stiffer brush and fewer rounds for gouache.
