If you want the ultimate one-trick pony that can humble 6 figure supercars at any red light across America, there’s one specific model that comes to mind. Some call it El Lobo, some call it the best selling truck of all time, but more importantly checking a couple boxes at your local ford dealer can get you a Mustang with a pickup bed and with optional 4WD forms the basis of an unbeatable combination of traction, power, and dare I say practicality.

I find the “against billet big blocks” slightly disingenuous when the comparison was against a car 300-400 lbs heavier (even after the carbon doors and front clip), with a stock location suspension (hasn’t pushed the car since the swap to legit 4 link), and pretty far from the limits of the engine (only runs a bit over half the boost the engine is capable of, and runs that particular engine for longevity). Not saying that the Coyote isn’t impressive. More so that Snot Rocket is the most extreme example. And it arguably isn’t a Coyote… custom sleeved Predator block and GT350 heads aren’t really Coyote stuff.

I love the fact that you can get a brand new F-150 xl with a regular cab and short bed with the coyote engine and if you get a Whipple supercharger or twin turbo the truck you have a 4wd truck that is 6-7 hundred plus HP that is capable of gapping hellcats that someone paid probably 80-100 thousand dollars for and the truck that just gapped that hellcat cost you around 50 thousand dollars with the forced induction set up im pretty sure that is like half the price of the engine hellcat

There have been factory options for supercharged coyote trucks for about 7yrs.. I bought one in late 2017 brand new with a Rousch TVS on one of these. Its actually boring after about a week.. Had it for a year and a half, until the regular cab got so shitty to live with as its bouncy, no leg room, no storage, and not insane fast unless you want to dump another $20-$40k in it.. The fp700 will barely beat an bone stock mustang or camaro if at all.. I enjoy my lariat 4dr ecoboost with downpipes & tune that is a nice useable truck that makes mid 500's and 600ft lbs..

I’ve wanted a f-150 coyote for some time, just the ridiculous pricing of vehicles keeps me driving my 2010 GMC Sierra with its tired 6L80 transmission. 😢. I also have a 2006 Ford F-350 van. The van drives amazing. I bought it from an auction just to haul my motorcycles with and use for camping. It was my first Ford being a GM guy my entire life. That van is stupid bulletproof, easy to work on,….for a van and feels so strong even with 165k miles on the clock. That 5.4 triton has earned my respect and trust. I really want a 5.0 coyote because it just sings. I don’t need crazy speed, but I appreciate a vehicle that works without fighting itself. I pissed away a bunch of money eliminating GMs bs afm/dod. The transmission/engine combination feels like they just smashed them together with zero consideration or even a goal in mind. My next truck will be a Ford as long as I can get it with a naturally aspirated V8 and a chain driven oil pump. 😂

You may have to give up on the chain driven oil pump idea, they went to a Kevlar belt fed oil pump in the gen 4 5.0L's from a gear driven one in previous generations. Time will tell if that was a wise option in regards to reliability.

@@337speed love the homage you gave on the upbringing of the current 4x4 Coyote, with the Lightning, while I suppose it is essentially the 2WD predacesor leading up to what we have now....I was like , WHOAA when you showed the Gen3 Prototype lightning...I remember reading about this truck and seeing the sketch renderings of it in 03 from Car & Driver or Motortrend...shame they never offered another Lightning, but I guess Ford knew their probably wasn't much need for it after the factory options they knew they would offer ... Could you imagine GM offering this with siblings to the Corvette, where with the right combo/platform, traction, etc, you're getting something that rivals the ZR1 in 0-60, top end, etc?

I have a gen 3 Coyote in my Mustang, 460 HP, and the best thing about it is that I can run regular gas as it has 4 knock sensors that will retard the timing to stop pre-ignition. Of course you lose some horsepower but I don't miss it. I have over 50K miles on it and never had a problem with that engine or the 10r80 transmission for that matter.

A little coyote that makes 3000+hp.. and a custom built chassis double frame rail 4 link chassis that is no different than what Cleetus is currently having built.. Def no Cleetus fanboy, but also annoyed by people who act like Brett's car is some normal s197 with a normal coyote.. Brett is having success due to his hard work and making lap after lap.. Brett bought that car/chassis already proven by Joel Steele, a bad ass stick shift racer that had already ran 6's in it several times.. Its a double frame rail 25/2 chassis, 4 link, and some trick 3in suspension.. A coyote is easier to tune on imperfect surfaces as it is down on TQ which makes it easier to tune and not go up in smoke like the guys running big inch big blocks..

@@sixohtwo Honestly the word pro-mod is a word kinda thrown around incorrectly.. not trying to bust ur balls, but a true pro-mod in drag racing is a long extended front end chopped roof and hood.. These small tire cars are factory length wheelbase and yes all of them that are running under mid 7's are chassis cars.. All of them.. when you run a double frame rail and 25-2 or 25-3 chassis its not a car, its a bunch of bars and skins over the top.. it only needs a factory roof & rear qtrs.. Here is an awesome interview of Joel Steele that built Snot Rocket 2.0.. It used to be a red coyote stick car, and had the coyote record for quite a while.. Talks about the chassis and car progression at 24min : kzbin.info/www/bejne/qF7LlYx8f5aoadUsi=k9YPhDK1xTZ_hSPw

Sure, there are many, many coyote's at stock displacement making well over 2,000 hp on a factory cast block with sleeves.. and a few over 3,000.. Why would it need more cubes. It has 12.5:1 compression & variable valve & cam timing with 4 overhead cams.. It ain't some pushrod motor..

Depends entirely on the customer. If someone's buying an F-150 as a work or weekend camping type vehicle and they don't want to deal with Turbo's than a stock 5.0L is a great option. But the people buying these single cab 4X4 5.0L's and trying to extrapolate as much speed as possible from it and the best way to do that is to add boost.
