You said in previous videos that when you started pon, you had a bad experience with it, I was hoping you could make a video on your first experience with pon and what has changed since then, it would help a lot. Thank you!

I used to work at a succulent greenhouse and we would propagate bear paw succulents via leaves! We would let them callous for a few days, put them straight in soil fingers facing upward (for lack of a better term), and then water them with the hose whenever they looked dry!
@SailorCSH Жыл бұрын
Did you have any specific light/temperature/humidity conditions? I’ve tried propagating the leaves in soil in normal household conditions, under a grow light and the cuttings always rotted. I did let them callus before putting them in soil and watered the soil when it was dry.

I propagated a really bad looking philo wet stick in moss and it started to make new leaves quickly! I had first put it in pon and it just didn't grow at all although it had even aerial roots! When I put it in moss, it had basically mold in the other end and I needed to cut all the black roots off. Plants are amazingly resilient😊

I've never propagated a bear paw from leaf cuttings but I have propagated a pants paw from leaf cuttings by putting the part where it broke off from the plant in water and it roots really quickly. I also love your videos and I love all the plants you own ❤

Hey Clair, I’m have the same exact Philo Esmeraldence nodes, shooting out leaves a what I’ve found is soon after the leaves come out it will send roots out from where the leaves started from. I have mine in moss an just leaving them until I see the roots. So don’t give up!! 🫶🏼💚

I wanted to tell you, that since watching your video this morning, I've decided to purchase a little Peperomia Hope. My favorite types of plants are usually Hoyas. And when moving to a smaller space, I gave all my other peperomias to my daughters (except for my Peperomia Ginny or "tri-color"). But this little peperomia Hope almost gives me the same sort of vibes as some of my smaller leafed hoyas. I'm excited about growing it. Thank you for your enthusiasm concerning it. It warmed my heart. 😍🌱

Love the Nepenthes. Mine has gone outside for summer holidays. The leaves have thickened up and finally producing cups. I love Calathea - Orbifolia. The leaves are so striking. I have two of them one in soil, the other in Leca, both are doing well. Can't wait to see them get really big. My favourite at the moment is Calathea - Veitchiana. It has the most beautiful leaves. Thank you for sharing your favourites. 😊

I've seen what happens with your philodendron esmeraldense with some raphidophora node props. Choped a big vine and threw the nodes in a prop box and it eventually started doing the same thing that you have.

I struggled initially with getting the watering right with the Philodendron domesticum variegated and found it to be vulnerable to root rot and to salt build ups in watering systems, so regular flushing and half-strength fertiliser every 2 weeks works best. A good chunky philodendron mix or African Violet mix are what I have found to be most suitable to pot up in, and only water the top inch of soil that has dried out, not right through, until the plant is fully established. Once established this plant is quite drought tolerant. They enjoy higher humidity levels, temperatures of 15 - 26⁰C, and respond well to pruning. Good luck with yours, as when the leaves get large it is a stunning philodendron.

Interesting to hear that you had problems with Calathea in semihydro. I use semihydro for a few plant species like Alocasia and Anthurium, but I got the impression that Calatheas in general tend to do better in soil, mixed with perlite. I have 6 Calatheas and all are loving life right now. I had them for around two years now
@agathan.944 Жыл бұрын
Drymonia is a Gesneriad (African Violet's cousin). It is an easy houseplant, and hard to kill one. Regular African Violet potting mix (peat and perlite). Good light, otherwise it will be leggy. No moss or terrarium needed.

oof, your philodendron esmeraldense experience makes me think twice about getting one. It's on my wishlist. I had a philodendron patriciae (juvenile plant) that died under my care, root rot too I believe. I believed P.esmeraldense to be easier to care for than P. patriciae. Good luck with yours!

@TheJungleHaven Hi Clare! I think this video you mention propagating Pepperomia Hope. I have found this plant super simple. I did this leaf propagation just two short months ago. I put it in self watering pon in my cabinet and forgot about it. I did another just on a plant shelf in my bathroom and they both look about the same. About 20 leaves and two -4 vines from a single leaf. I want one of these trailing in every room 😊 oh it’s not giving me option to add a photo(got my platforms mixed up ;). If you’d like to see a photo let me know how to get one to you

The adult fungus gnats might be going in to the pon to feed, but from what i know, they need to soil to reproduce, so what maybe is happening is that gnats from the plants with soil are going in to the plants with pon to feed, and back to soil to reproduce?
@ronjakh Жыл бұрын
your esmeraldense is basically a wetstick and as long as the growth point hasn’t rotted, it will be fine. wetsticks don’t need roots to survive and the growth point will activate, push out new growth and the new growth will grow roots. Happens all the time and the plant is just doing what it’s programmed to do to survive 🙂

I must’ve already been emo that day. BUT then 😅 My friend walked in and said I thought she got you moving to do plants and laundry WHAT IS GOING ON?! 😂 I explained… and that man said: but she’s already got like 500 plants maybe they killed it! I retorted GET OUTTA MY HOUSE🤣 I think I’ll buy me an Esmeraldi too now, maybe… 😅
