Casey - Curious when this was filmed, i.e. one week ago, two weeks ago, etc? Trying to understand the smallmouth bite relative to weather and water temp? We were out this past weekend and the bigger females wereno longer on the bank (at least as far as our lures were concerned)? 😅

It’s funny you say that, because this year I have also started to deepen my knowledge on water temps and how they affect my bass fishing. I have noticed that in Idaho, 49-56 will really wake up the smallies and 56-60 will wake up the largemouth. Cj, Swan, and the snake river will always heat up first due to constant water flow, followed by other resovier systems. Now to figure out when exactly the females move up is something I haven’t dialed in yet. This was a lucky trip you could say ;)

We fished Owyhee Saturday and water temps were 54 to 59,however, the largemouth were very unresponsive. We did catch a few smallmouth but nothing big. Anyway one good note is the Owyhee crappie are the biggest I've seen in 20 years. Average crappie has been 8-9.5" but this year they are fat and currently 10.5-11"with a few over 11". The epic crappie season mid-may to July will have much bigger slabs this year for kids and families. Also of note on Friday at Brownlee we did catch 5 crappie and all were over 12" and two were 14.5", huge crappie. The crappie were caught on a 4" swim bait trying for bass. 😅

@@tommagnum2530 same, I went to owyhee resoivoir in February. We didn’t catch any largemouth, I thought it was due to cold water but if they were not responding in warmer water then thanks for the info!
