I used to overbike/tire where I rode a full squish with DHR and DHF and after a while, I figured out that for my riding, I didn’t need the most hardcore things. As much as I’d like to think I could ride like the people I see on KZbin. I ended up doing a hard tail build with just XC tires and I’m having more fun riding now since it’s my tempo.
@MTBRadDad2 жыл бұрын
I so completely agree! One thing i found funny out here in my area, is that on alot of our downhill segments, most of the fastest people are on full XC Bikes with XC Tires! I just started a little experiment, I put Kenda Booster Pros which are completely XC tires on my primer. Lets see how this goes! haha
@ZFit112 жыл бұрын
After owning the same bike for 3 months, I’m loving it! Finally dialed in suspension for aggressive trail riding. Upgraded front rotor to 203mm, and transferred front rotor to rear. Swapped to Kenda Hellkat 2.4 ATCs for winter riding in Santa Cruz, Ca for better mud traction. It’s become a very playful and confidence inspiring ride! Other than chainring, cassette and rear hub, I plan on keeping this bike mostly unmodified. I did purchase the “refurbished” model direct from Intense, which was 99.5% perfect when I put it together. This is my first mtb after a 10 year hiatus off from riding and compliments my XC racing roots beautifully,

My local Intense dealer says the carbon frame is a lower level carbon than on the Sniper and Primer. But it is still carbon so better than aluminum. Also the bottle mount on the bottom of the frame can be used as a mechanical bottle. I use my under frame mount for storage of necessary mechanical parts...extra air chargers, rag, tire levers, bike tool, patches, extra master link and the like. Keeps my pack lighter and lowers the center of gravity a little bit. Doesn't matter if it gets dirty and can also possibly provide a little protection from damage.

Good call on the bottom mount 👍

I've been raving about my 951 XC to my riding buddies. It's my first carbon fiber frame but not my first 29, so although the 29er wheels definitely help with the speed so does the weight and suspension of this amazing bike. Got mine from Costco last year the same week they announced it, I wanted the Trail version but it was out of stock for more travel, but don't regret getting the XC at all. Handles the New England gnar well enough for me!

I have the trail version of this bike and I love it. The only complaints that I have are hub engagement and the tires. The tires are personal choice and only a problem because of the terrain I ride on. I replaced them with 2.5" Assegai tires and it's very planted now. I almost want to swap the hub out. It tends to be more of a problem when I'm tired and riding in slightly lower gears.

I have the Large XC, you can fit two water bottles albeit shorter bottles inside frame. One of my spokes came through the rim as well, WTB sent me a upgraded KOM i30 with spokes and nipples and gave my shop supplies to offset the labor so I paid nothing to get a new wheel, resued the hub only for new wheel. Weird, I cant find it on the costco site. You can still pick it up from intense 951 site.

Which part? haha. For Studio stuff its the Sony A7s III and typically a 55mm f1.8 or 35mm f1.8

I mean it's not really a cheap bike. it seems to be a low in mid range dual suspension.
@MTBRadDad2 жыл бұрын
Definitely not cheap, but it is also a carbon frame with good components.

entry level 3k bike? shit, with that kind of money I dont expect a bad performing bike.
@MTBRadDad2 жыл бұрын
Entry level to intense . But Yeah, 3k should buy a good bike.

You talk like it’s a bad thing the brakes will lock up the wheel if applying a certain amount of force on the break lever… brah, that’s a good thing.

@@MTBRadDad if you can’t give people a straight answer you’re either, A. PHONEY. B. Dim, C. Lacking conviction, or D. All of the above. Either locking up the tire on the rear is good or bad? You likely lack the conviction on this one being you also only just recently rode a 29’er for the first time.

Entry level at $3,249 + tax?? That shouldn't be entry-level.

For a Carbon Frame it is, Also Its Entry Level for the Intense Brand, not in the sport as general

Is it only me or this build is too expensive for what you get? Like that fork, & drivetrain is just not what you expect. Especially compared to direct to consumer bikes. & if you want to buy online just get a direct to consumer mtb.
