She filed an appeal because she believes DETR is wrong and she's right. Also, people can be homeless and still eat food. So, you're suggesting that she should've paid the $5,000 she was supposedly overpaid on her rent in advance. You must not live in Las Vegas. One-bedroom apartments are at a minimum of $1,000 a month. So, your suggestion would've meant she would've paid for 5 months in advance. Her payments ended in 2022. Clearly, that suggestion wouldn't have done anything.

I have a friend going through this now and still charging her $14K. Even with her being able to provide proof she went to work for a temp agency and got off unemployment. But they still coming after her after the appeal. She is now searching for an attorney she cannot afford to fight this case.

Technically, it’s not paying off student loans. It’s paying off the rip off interest being charged. Here’s a good explanation I saw somewhere: “There's not actually money being spent to wipe away student loans. A student has $20,000 college debt and has paid $250 a month for 10 years. They have paid $30,000, but still have an outstanding balance of $15,000 on the school loans, due to the way the loans are written. The loan relief is saying - you've paid $10,000 more than your loan value, so we're discharging that remaining balance. The loaner of the $ already received their loan amount, plus interest. And 18 yr old old bowerers are ill prepared to understand the long term ranifications of these high interest loans. Better to forgive the remaining balance to allow their spending to help the economy. Like we did with banks.”

I gave up trying to reach them! I've been in the trades for 23 years and I filed to get help. I received it for a few months then it stopped! I received a letter shortly after saying I owed over $9,000. So I don't know what avenue or approach to take. I keep getting letters that I owe. I've sent them several faxes of the appropriate information they needed or wanted to verify my status and never heard from them. This was about two years ago. I have been laid off since but I haven't filed because it's impossible to go into a local branch to discuss the matter which I find absolutely absurd!!!!

I was legit working at nursing home when COVID started (30-40 residents died after a nurse brought it in 3/2020) and it took me over a year to get some unemployment due to the PUA/DETR chaos . I didnt even get a big sum since I was only paid $10/hr...i wonder how folks got away with so much $$$? A lot of us were caregiving - living and working - with elders and dealing with our own health issues...it was a nightmare on the phone every day in 2020-2021...the stress of keeping our elders/eachother safe .. all the fighting was nauseating :(

For MONTHS and then finally almost a YEAR, I called and called and called and called and called. Eventually I couldn't afford to stay, had to leave my apartment and move in with my Mother in Florida.
