This is a cool series - I’ll have to look back at what I missed! “Deerclops feels like a mod boss, like he doesn’t belong…” I agree, it feels like he’s more fit for a place where you should avoid starving or something

Hey brother. Been doing something similar to this but in Calamity mod. For each two bosses I defeat, I have to build one thing. It sounds like nothing serious but most of my build take around a week. Also it's even more intense in my earlier MMFTW playthrough, since I couldn't get passed Skeletron I just built a lot and now I have eleven builds pre-skeletron
@Throarbin
@Throarbin Жыл бұрын
Dang, that's a LOT of building. I was even thinking of doing a One Year One World Series with Calamity, but that's far down the line, so we'll see if I even do that

@@Throarbin I like challenges that give an equal amount of incentive for progressing and building - nothing is more exciting than defeating moon lord with a kingdom lol. And yeah. what are some things you’ve built? i’ve currently only just beat The Destroyer on PS5 Master Mode because the controls are so much more challenging for harder bosses compared to PC. Im wondering what I can do to further my world besides struggling against the twins or if they’re anything I can build to help me beat them
@biuliu7157
@biuliu7157 Жыл бұрын
@@sclammp5811 Congrats on defeating Destroyer! If you want to further your world without building, you can try minmaxing your accessories, tools, and weapons to slowly inch your way to the next boss. If you want to further your world with a bit of building, you can try to make a npc house for each biome that houses two npcs (i dont know if pylons work in your version but two is a good number to build up your npc count) Fishing can help pass the time if you don't know what to do. I usually play on extreme challenges, so if I don't want to defeat a boss I usually work on my potion farm, fishing, coin farm, or building. The things I've built is a village sky fortress that contains a dragon, an underground storage that contains 100+ chests (most recent), a demon statue at spawn that has pillars that goes up to an ancient ruined arena, a factory that contains its own researching lab, a cathedral with NPC rooms and a personal room, a desert shelter for dryad (it looks pretty weird), and about 30+ other projects that took 5+ hours to build.

I love the idea of this series! Especially since it's something I've been thinking a lot about lately. I feel like just about everyone speedruns Terraria and Minecraft these days, meanwhile I just want to take my time playing both games, and not rush through them
@dexiofloof348
@dexiofloof348 Жыл бұрын
I personally only rush Minecraft until I get enchants and then chill and take my time (oftentimes in multiplayer), and don't rush Terraria at all. If I'd have to describe any kind of rushing I do, it's getting Eye of Cthulhu out of the way as well as racing to prepare for the mechs before they kill you. As someone who's currently playing Hardcore in hopes of winning a run, I can say that you might want to take your time in Hardcore as well if you want to mitigate your chances of dying as much as you can. Hardmode gets hard - so I would rather do that stuff in pre-Hardmode if I can.

Just to mention a few: i want both oceans explored, and a protective barrier built all around them before beating the wall of flesh, so that they don't get corrupted. All of the easily accessible corruption needs to be explored as well, and one altar marked so i don't destroy it by accident - this is to save it and use it as a crafting station. Oh and i want at least a few Pylons and a few improvised arenas built as soon as possible, in various parts of the world! Looking forward to more videos from you! :)

Personally I've never been a fan of deerclops, like you mentioned the boss is found in a super awkward point of progression that makes the fight a slog if you want to get better equipment, or mostly meaningless due to a lack of upgrades. That said I do think the drops are fun, still the fact most of them are outclassed by the gear necessary to beat him without dying a hundred times, and the sheer balance of fighting it without a melee character, just makes the bossfight bland in my opinion.

I recommend mining out the dungeon a bit (and perhaps expanding it w/ shimmered brick walls) to set up a farm for the post-Plantera dungeon down the line, or at least a nicer arena to grind in. A teleporter network is also a solid plan, since pylon networks only get you so far. You'll be left with a lot of time in May and a lot of it should probably be spent on prehardmode prep - isolating biomes if you haven't, and especially grabbing all the fossils you need since scarab bombs are a lot harder to come by when you have to struggle with the hardmode desert.

Hmm... Sometimes I've gotten that black-map thing too. Usually it's a sync-issue with Steam, or a computer-shutdown before Terraria fully closes on Steam, something weird with putting stuff on or off the cloud in-game, opening the map in tEdit, changing computers, there being a hotfix, or something else that causes the main files to need to be re-acquired. In your case, I'm gonna guess it was shutting down the computer before Terraia hit 100% while "syncing to the cloud". That seems to be the most common way it unexpectedly happens, at least for me. I've always considered Deerclops to be more on parallel with Queen Bee, than Skeletron. They are both biome-specific bosses, that really don't open any new exploration-progression, but give you some okay upgrades to what equipment you have. For example, you can get a sentry from it that's slightly better than the explosive bolt sentry from OoA, you can get a gun that's kind of on par with the bee gun for damage, or a really fun mage item that has lower than average damage, but also ignores 10 armor before it does said damage, so is helpful against Skeletron.
@Scratchy__The_cat

Imma give you a tip about the dungeon if you ever want to do this, but if you collect 250 dungeon bricks, place them around you in the UNDERGROUND biome, then this will meet every requirement for a dungeon biome, except ONE thing, which this one thing is a special dungeon wall with CURSED in the beginning of the name. And in order to get it, just toss dungeon brick walls into the shimmer to get their cursed variants. Then, the last requirement is standing in front of these walls, and that's a dungeon biome! Although in order for enemies to spawn, well they can only spawn in front of dungeon walls too so yeah.

Yeah, kind of depends on how you go about it. I only really play on the world for about 2 hours a week so if you have more time then that then you could easily spend just as much time as I am on the world in a short span of irl time.

I know I'm a month behind, but for your Aether biome, the reason you don't like it is because the gemspark is a solid color. You need to add more complimentary colors along with that pink. I would do Pink, Purple, Blue, and white.

The map typically errors when save files are messed with as the exploration is not held with the character. So if you switched pc or changed drives but kept the file it could error out.
@Throarbin
@Throarbin Жыл бұрын
I would have thought the same but I did neither of those. My best guess is that the cloud saves got mixed up somewhere, but even then, only the map data was reset.

Been loving the series, so on the first of this month, i decided to start my own 1 year 1 world, I suck at stuff like building, and I usually play modded where I rush through the game, so it's been an experience. I have a question, though. How often do you play on the world? Do you just play for a while every day? or just whenever you feel like it each month?
@Throarbin
@Throarbin Жыл бұрын
I'm aim for 2 hours a week. It's not really that much frankly, and plenty of people spend much more time than that, but I find this to be more of a challenge in slowing down irl alongside the game. But awesome to hear you've also started doing it!

Ive encountered the map not being explored thing on PS4. Its to do with old characters and worlds, more specific deleted characters and worlds. If you go into the system files where the character and world save files are located you will see that every world you created, including worlds you deleted are still there. You need to delete all of the deleted worlds and it will fix the problem. For me there was like 80+ old deleted worlds that still took up memory and once the game reaches certain memory size it doesnt update the explored map for some reason. (Possibly record it so you can let others know incase it happens to them)
@Throarbin
@Throarbin Жыл бұрын
Well, I'm not sure that's the reason why. I'm also not on ps4 if that changes anything. I'm pretty sure the cloud save got messed up somewhere which I think it more the more likely possibility.
