With my homemade projects, I always use spray varnish. And if I don't have the semi-gloss (or satin), I spray a coat of glossy and then, when it has dried completely, I spray a thin coat of matte varnish. It keeps everything much more liquid resistant.

@@rollingwiththebeard Well, it's a subjective matter... For my needs, the results are great! But it is up to many factors: how thick is the coat of varnish applied, the brand and quality of both the varnish and the original card, tiles or tokens... I prefer the semi-glossy or satin spray varnish, but I sometimes can't find it. So, matte over glossy it is. But always a very thin coat of matte just enough to diminish the glow... It is all trial and error...

@@rollingwiththebeard Unfortunately I can't help you at that... I'm from Brazil. The brands here definitely are different. And most certainly the quality of the varnishes there is better...

With cards being so pliable, I wonder how the paint would hold up through repeated shuffling. I'd also be interested to see how it affects (someone else's) tiles and boards.
