I’ve been having these thoughts for awhile when I heard the WotC series is being put on an indefinite hiatus, but I think it’s worth sharing. For me, what made the Xcom WotC series so great was how it formed it’s own narrative. The random encounters, the gut wrenching feeling when someone died, the lines that character’s would say, that insane chaos when someone goes berserk. It’s something that works best with the “story beats” it gives you. Hell, the moment when (spoilers) Tear died, and Gordon suddenly dodged every shot and extracted tear’s body was amazing. It wasn’t scripted, nor did you *force* it to happen for dramatic effect. Another moment was when you accidentally gave GLaDOS Tear’s rifle, a weird slip-up but it worked so well narratively. I could already tell that for the episode made after the first hiatus, you *wanted* there to be some animated scene with the commander fighting - or getting captured by - the Assassin/Hunter which would lead into the Avenger defense (or maybe you wanted a rescue op), but couldn’t since it was all too time consuming or out of budget. I think the problem is that you’re trying to brute force story beats that go against the narrative structure your series has already formed with. Instead of working with it, you’re fighting against it. Most likely to “live-up-to” the hype, when in reality a new episode is more than enough by itself. Most of the narrative “beats” are formed through dice rolls, and trying to *force* stuff to happen would not only be hard to make, but also uninteresting since most likely everything would be forced to happen. For example, I can’t tell if sending the Reaper in solo for a blacksite mission was an actual strategy or you trying to up the tension purposefully. If it’s the former, *that* is what we want to see, a narrative beat created via real gameplay; if it’s the latter, then it ironically ruins the tension since you likely would’ve refused to have it end any other way. While there’s very little chance of you seeing this, and rarer still for you to change your mind (if it’s not too late). If you wish to go back to the WotC series, I suggest looking at your previous videos of it (and your original xcom2 series) for guidance. Work with the story beats the gameplay gives you and build off of it (even stuff that is already scripted to happen in the base game can help too). Another example is the episode with “Shen’s Gift”. The little scene where Lily talks to the commander and essentially gives more of a reason for why she’s going on the mission, and begging the commander to be more careful, even bringing up Tear’s death. That’s a perfect showcase of why I loved the series, it played off of the gameplay *and* the game’s story. Heck, it was simple too, just a static background with a mock-up of the game’s dialogue box for both characters. If anything, this would be a good way for us to see more of some of our favorite soldiers. Maybe they have stuff to say or comment on. It doesn’t have to have animated scenes, even simple moments of dialogue work. I do hope you consider this as feedback, if you decide to return to the series.

The fact that people still ask about shadow of war after you've given your statement on it multiple times is crazy. I guess people want a replacement for Brett but Jesus it's been so long already. I can't wait for your darksouls video honestly your retrospectives like your deltarune video are much more enjoyable for me to watch then your playthroughs with the exception of war of the chosen.

Hey Seth! Good to know you're still alive and well :). I'm glad that you've shared your feelings about the content you aim to make. I appreciate your decision, but can you make a normal video game let's-play every once in a while? I enjoy seeing your personality glow without a well crafted, hour long script and think that the interactions you have with many of the games you play makes you become more human.
