Oh I'm sorry to hear you strugelling with your art so much over such a long time! But you're not alone with it! I've had the same struggles for the past year or so (only my art is not my business). I can't imagine how hard it must be, making money with your art/content and not feeling happy about it... I'm glad you're being so honest about it and hearing other artists talk about the same problem (such as Sara Faber) it really feels like not just an indiviual problem but something a lot of artists seem to face at the moment.. I hope everything will be better for you soon and you'll find a way to be truly happy and proud with what you do!

First I want to say that I am such a big fan of your work! I just got my sketchbook from your shop and I'm in love. Second, I have gone through something similar with my art. Feeling trapped, and not satisfied with my work. I also get major imposter syndrome all the time. What I find helps me is to just drop my current project and walk away for a while. I will sort of take a leave of absence, and during that break most all my knots begin to untie themselves. I also have experimented with different styles which have helped boost inspiration. It seems to me you have been working nonstop and may be experiencing major burnout. I think it's a good idea that you want to take it easy. Just know that no matter what you do, you have an audience that will support you. You are so incredibly talented. I'm excited to see what will be next for you!

I feel stuck too, especially for past few months and this artist diary series is great idea, we could beat our artblocks together. You are my big inspiration.💕 I follow you since 2019 i guess. Over these years I noticed your art style evolution and looking forward to see what you bring us next. I really love that nymph mermay idea. Are you planing to make prompt list or it's just moodboard for your patrions?

I get what you're going through. After my daughter was born, I think I lost everything, even my wish to create. I have a lot of unfinished work, a lot of ideas and nothing is right. I think your art has developed so much and I'm always impressed of how amazing is everything you post. You're still a big inspiration for me!!! You can do this!!?

I understand, I've been working on some new things that don't want to share at the moment. I felt like I was forcing myself to get things done last year and didn't complete anything. It was all bad timing because of the things I went through personally at the time.

Im really interested to see whats coming soon! I also changed into making more experimental art recently out of the same feelings you have right now, so i totally feel where you're at! Im always happy to see artists change up their usual work, because doing the same process and workflow gets boring after a few months and change is something that always helped me to advance into a new stage of creating and being more satisfied with my own work :)

Among the artists i follow, i always admired your style consistency and your regular posts. I think professional artists those days (socials digital patreon era) have to manage their business like a brand, and it can be « unhealthy » for creativity. It’s really just my feeling since i am only a hobbyist myself. I am really impressed you had the courage to open up about this, and i hope this situation is not too stressing for you on a financial perspective . I did have the chance to have therapy at some point, and even if my main issue wasn’t art, all is connected and it helped me a lot. I wish you all the best, i really like your work, you are amazing.

First off, i love you, let's just make this straight and clear 💜 Second, you know Sonia, if we want to grow, the one thing that always is the key to this is getting out of your comfort zone. I have a feeling you feel like this right now because it seems you're struggling with finding new motivation and inspiration from your art aka where do you want to go. And in order to go through this you should try and get out of your comfort zone and the usual things you do and try completeeeeely new alien stuff that will make your brain go like " Umm girl??" Like i see you always drawing girls mostly on white backgrounds you know? Not that it's something bad ( not at all!!!) but how does it sound if you take a break and try making some drawings without any character in it? Like.. a nice beach house from your beach grandma theme, try and envision the house or a room in it and draw it without a main character, just the atmosphere. Another idea would is to try and draw some landscapes, or some scenery you never usually draw like a forest or Sonia's imaginary happy place or something. And by just going into that unknown zone that is so new and different to you, you will slowly but surely start to gather more pieces that will build you and your confidence back up again ;) Just my thoughts 💜 i have personally seen a great improvement in your art in the past month, but i definitely understand why you're feeling like this right now. You got it girl 🍰🍰🌸🌸

It sounds more like burnout.. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that Why don’t you do something like “magical may” or “mage may” Something that’s not necessarily mermaid themed but it could really align with prompts too I think it might help to add in some other elements (personally i think mage aesthetics would be amazing with collages !!)

Follow you for a while on IG and just subscribed to your Patreon today. You are such an inspiration for me honestly. I love the girls you create, they are so adorable and aesthetic. The way you do art and/or business is such a huge example for me and literally my art goal. When I heard that you struggle with your art lately, I can relate. In my opinion, such state means that you are ready for further development, ykwim. When you enjoy your art and see no need for changes, means that you have reached your limit for now. And let me say that you work A LOT, like doing those themed stationery packs you offer on Patreon - jeezes, do you have a huge team to manage that all?? That looks just fabulous, but I can't imagine how much effort and time are put within monthly. So sending your positive vibes and my gratitude for motivation, I hope you enjoy your search for new art ways and allow yourself to take some rest. Can't wait to see your Mermay arts! Have fun and good luck
