Did the shoe decluttering this morning! Again, nothing was sacred! 10 pair of shoes, bye bye! My husband is now inspired to hit his closet. When he looked in my closet and saw everything so neat and accessible, he was blown away. I felt your pain about getting rid of the leather shoes. I have a pair that after about 50 minutes, I am ready to kick them across the room! See ya! This is a wonderful journey! Thank you so much!

We do tend to want to keep things we spent a lot of money on. Like that money will just be wasted if we throw the thing away now. I've learned to look at it this way: 1. The money is wasted anyway. It's gone. You can't get it back. And you can't or don't use the thing anyway, and now it's just taking up space. 2. Getting rid of it now is like buying space. If I can clear out space equal to a whole room (even if it's not all in one room), it's like having a whole extra room added on to the house. And I don't have to pay for it. It's already been paid for over the years with all the stuff.

I just recently pared down my number of shoes. I also just bought some new shoes. So, this challenge will have to wait a year or so. I do have a couple of pairs I could probably toss. Two or three. I broke my foot this Spring and I found that I could no longer wear some pairs and needed some new pairs to fill in the gaps. I'll see how these work out for me.

I so needed to watch these videos. I have become chronically ill and no longer am able to leave my home much. My home gets cluttered just living in it since I am always feeling so ill. I have so much I don't use anymore but I kept thinking that I would get better and be able to use the many things I have. A decade has gone by and I still am ill.I I am coming to the place of accepting where I am now. I know that I need to minimalize so I can just manage my home. I am sure there are others out there that also have low energy reserves leaving them unable to do the work. I am not depressed, just ill. I have asked family members to help me, but they are so busy. Any suggestions anyone?
@AskAngelaBrown2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry that you are feeling this way. But you are right many people have been like this and you are not alone. If you are comfortable maybe consider asking a close friend or neight for help or even someone from a church group. If you want to try on your own, set aside 20 minutes to start and do what you can during that time. I hope this helps.

This is hard for me. Reason why, I only own 10 pairs that I use all the time. NO EXTRAS. 5 dress, which include a pair of sandals. 4 sneakers; 2 for clients' homes, 1 for working at home, 1 for casual wear away from home. 1 cowboy boots for farm when rainy. SHOES have never been a problem with me. Times where I could not afford them, is probably the reason for not having a ton of shoes. Once I wear them out, to the trash they go. I have to admit that this is 1 area of my life that clutter has not been a problem. Other areas of clutter is WHERE I MUST work.
@AskAngelaBrown Жыл бұрын
I applaud your efforts! 👏👏 It's impressive how you've managed to use just ten pairs of shoes effectively, making each one count. It's okay that your focus on owning fewer items may have been influenced by past financial constraints. Embracing a minimalist approach that suits your lifestyle is a positive choice. It's wonderful that shoes have been one area where clutter hasn't been an issue for you. Remember that decluttering is a personal journey, and you should be proud of your progress. Keep up the great work in maintaining an organized space and working towards a more fulfilling life. You've got this! 😊

Our garbage men are probably gonna hate us cause we keep finding stuff in our house to throw away and putting large black bags out there for them to pick up lol, but I do try to space it out a bit so that we don't have all our stuff from the house out there at one time though. And some of the things we just put on the curb for other people to pick up and take away if they want it.

Hi Jane, the mold is an immediate concern. Mold grows like wildfire and can make you all kinds of sick. Not to mention that mold damage can devalue your property by rotting the walls, flooring and foundation and contents of your home. The sooner you are able to focus on this, the more money you will save on the restoration of your home and your health.

@AskAngelaBrown2 жыл бұрын
The goal is to start with the easy shoes first. The worn, dirty and really old ones are easy because like you said it's not a big sacrifice. Once the process is started, it's often easier to make decisions on the next layer of shoes. The pretty or quirky ones that cost a boatload of money. 😍
