Little tip. Take the bolts and back them almost all the way out. Stick the socket on the bolts then fire the truck up and turn the wheel. Use the power steering to your advantage and allow the socket to hit the axle pushing the bearing out from the knuckle.

You know the reason why the bearing went bad is from all the weight from the little tree air fresheners you have on the rear view mirror Ryan 😅 great video keep it up. 👍

This is why i started undercoating and spray painting my undercarriage every winter. Barely much rust under my truck now since i started doing it and I live in Buffalo, NY were they salt the roads even in the rain lol. Can't wait til I can leave NY and move south.
@paulcondie25208 ай бұрын
Absolutely! I'm in Pa. I used to use my old engine oil after a change, brush it on in late fall, but now I use fluid film. Much easier to spray it on.
@dillan61347 ай бұрын
If you’re undercoating or painting, unless you’re stripping it every year and verifying there is ZERO corrosion, then all you’re doing is trapping moisture and corrosion in so it can eat away at the metal uninhibited. The other comment has it right: use oil or protectants like fluid film. It’s not as pretty, but it’s the best solution. It’s the same principle as any other metal storage. Think about when you buy a new bearing. Or axle shaft. Or rotor. What protects the inside of your engine from corrosion? A thin film of something petroleum based does a great job of preventing oxide layers from forming, or spreading if they’ve already formed. Also, please stay up north. We’ve had more than enough Yankees and Pacific Northwesterners and Californians move down here and completely change both our landscape with a million .25 acre lot subdivisions, and change our culture for the worse. Just a few years ago, everyone you met down here said yes sir and yes ma’am. They held the door for you. They said thank you when you did it for them. If you passed them driving down a 2 lane road, they waved at you. Now? Southern hospitality is all but dead and priced out.

If you leave the back top bolt in hub just sticking out and put the socket on it with long extention and crank truck and turn wheel it will press hub off instantly.

The easy way to remove the bearing is - remove bolts except leave two opposite each other partially threaded. Place a deep socket on the bolt and turn the steering wheel as to wedge the socket on bolt against the axle housing alternately and the bearing will push right out in seconds.

But is it possible to get those parts and panels well it fit? And seen a coment about the rear seats that they sadly have to come from exacly a quad cab. Or no leg room for the people in the back.. what you recommend for coils amd all that. Maybe 4-5 inch lift. Remove the weak bumper it has. And install those bumpers like you habe fromt ad rear for safely reasons..

That Midwest rust makes everything way more difficult than it should be. I’m thankful to only deal with it every once in a while on rare occasions. But the best thing I found to combat rust is (WD40 gel lube) especially on the part of the wheel bearing housing that inserts into the knuckles. Has to be the gel lube tho. The regular wd40 is shit for anything outdoors imo.

Sorry to see you use Rock Auto. I've had terrible experiences with them. Its not much more to buy local. Or at least Amazon. The issue arises on return or warranty problems. R A does not have a "human" return department. Only online and the process is daunting. Read the customer reviews on there customer service and business practices. Its good til it ain't.
@ryan25468 ай бұрын
I returned tons of stuff to them! Easy process sends me the label and money comes back in 3 days! Buying local yes, but all the parts from autozone or wherever are all on rock auto with different names and 70% less money plus you get name brands like timken, ac delco, and tons of oem parts! You should give it another try! Plus their parts fitment system is unmatched!
