Don't negotiate with poor vendors, be a blessing to them. They work hard and don't charge that much.

remember you are in the Philippines where varieties of a certain fruits exist. If you see any fruit that is already cracked it only suggest that it is over ripe and usually not good to eat because molds has a way to enter within. Those over ripe fruits are good for seeds collection for planting.

You should start your durian journey with a variety that is easier to eat. Puyat variety is really the best for beginners. Also its better that you buy durian that is not open.

Their prices are a little bit high. You should go to a place where there are more vendors so you can compare prices and qualities. Don’t buy from the first vendor you come upon but shop around.

Durian takes getting used to. There are durian candies that you can try first to get used to the taste and smell then try the actual fruit. It would be best to try it frozen first because it might be less stinky (funky smell 😅) Atis is sugar plum in English, I think. It's rather tricky to eat because there are are individual seeds. It's very sweet when ripe. It would be like eating watermelon and you have to spit out the seeds. Chico (brown and round) fruit when ripe tastes like brown sugar. When it is over ripe, it gives a hint of sweer beer, I think. The santol (cotton fruit) if you notice the seeds when you opened it, it looks like cotton. Hence the name. The flesh can be eaten with salt or you can pickle it. It is also a substitute souring agent for sinigang. Big guavas don't have much taste. A bit bland and a bit sour. It is usually dipped in salt or fish sauce. There are small ripe ones that you can bite into like an apple, but they are not usually sold (i think). Ripe guavas can also be used as a souring agent for sinigang, but it makes it sweeter.

Yes, I tried a few candies and they also had a kind of funny taste lol but I want to try again if I can find a good one…I have not tried the atis yet but excited to try it now 😊 Chico is sooo yummy but I was not able to find it yet…

In my youth, we used to cut off the outer part of the santol and then enjoy the inner flesh with some salt. I envy you, Joey; it has been many years since I last tasted many of those fruits. Once in a while, small guavas are available here, but they are from Mexico.

Don’t buy durian which already cracked because it already fell under the tree. You have to buy the one that is still looks fresh, it’s hard to open but the vendor like in mindanao just open for you and they didn’t sell which already cracked. I watched that in KZbin and besides it’s cheaper there only 60 per kilogram. There’s nothing wrong in negotiating maybe they already double the price. Santol can use for sinigang also like tamarind, kamyas and guava.

When I had time to watch your vlog, I watched it, especially when you were still in the Netherlands, and suddenly you seem to have stopped making vlogs, and I don't know why?. Now you are in the Philippines, and I believe you are building a house in a province in the Philippines, and I'm so happy for you. I already tasted the fruits you ate except durian, which I have not tasted yet. The locals say that it is delicious, but this Keira's has a foul smell. Anyway, lanzones or Lansium parasiticum, commonly known as Langsat lanzones or longkong in English, are the names here. There are health benefits and nutrition facts about lanzones, such as: * Full of Dietary Fiber. * Good for teeth and bones. * Rich in Vitamin A. * Good Source of B Complex. * A Small Amount of Vitamin C. * Full of antioxidants. * Lanzones Cures diarrhea. * Good for skin. These are the facts and benefits of long lanzones. Always keep safe, man.
