I'm Very Confused - No Man's Sky Ep. 1!

You already know what to do if confused: read the text in the lower right of the screen. BUT if that text is confusing, it my help to open the menu and check the LOG tab to select the mission you want to do - sometimes it switches to the most recent mission found even if you didn’t complete the first. Lots of other info on the other tabs in the menu might also help.

A couple pieces of early game advice: 1. learn to use the scanner and analysis visor together to help you locate resources. Scanning plants and minerals unlocks secondary resources that are gathered when you shoot them with the mining laser, and also earns you units and nanites (two types of currency that will be useful later) for scanning. 2. learn how to use the quick menu (X) and Discoveries menu (Escape), on foot the quick menu can summon your ship to your location (if the launch thruster is properly fueled), and there's a lot of useful information about your location in the Discoveries menu, as well as in-game manual can be found in the latter. Also, if you get lost, the Discoveries menu has your quest log to fall back on.

You're actually doing the same as I did. The game sort-of leads you through a tutorial with the lower-right text. You can interact more with items on the planets (hover over like you did with the broken machinery), and there's almost certainly something else in your system to find. Understanding what the displays are telling you, what's in all the menus etc. I found a lot of functionality I wasn't using when I looked at the key mapping in the pop-up menu.

It’s a rather large game, 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 planets across 256 galaxies to explore so it might take a hot minute (some do defo get a bit samey eventually). Also the planet you started on last episode is probably hundreds of thousands of ly away from where you were in this episode, so I don’t think you will come across it again… cool game though

all you need to do is just read literally everything on the screen, it usually has all the info you need to figure stuff out

Just to let you know if you didn't know already, this game uses procedural generation for planets, animals, galaxies and a few other things. You can certainly visit the same planet on a new save but it might take you days if not years to find it since there's supposed to be 256 unique galaxies and countless planets. This game is so easy to sink hundreds of hours into if you're just about exploring or building your fleet and bases. It's also beyond satisfying just watching your money go into the billions if you choose to wreck the economy of galaxies by selling a certain material XD

great video, i know everting about this game the best advise i have for you as a beginner is have fun follow the quest until you get the just of it and do stuff yourself and buy the basic resourses so you dont waste your time farming chap resourses for sustinence. hope you love this game like i do 🤙

If an item say "Jn" in the corner of the icon, it means you can refine it to get something else (for some of them, you need to refine them multiple times)

I was never able to get into No Man's Sky as much as I did with Astroneer. Just a heads up it's not the same. Like apples and oranges. You can't build anything in NMS, you can only buy customizations. Not my cup of tea

For the start of nms I'm 80% sure that the reason why you get a distress signal from a ship is because it is your own ship and you've crashed there after a disaster, not sure what kind of disaster

Best way to make money in the early game is to scan stuff you can get more units with better scanner upgrades heard you could earn at least millions from one scan

Mid game way of making money is Going to a Red,Blue Or Green star system you'll need a Emeril drive cadmium drive and a indium drive to go to those systems, once there scan for a planet with indium, emeril or cadmium, If you find a planet with a activated resource that means there are storm crystals on it, when the storm happens make sure you get as much storm crystals as you can, they sell for a lot of money

Or they can be used to make a better fuel for your warp drive making it so you don't need to refuel as often,also be sure to get a auto charging module for your ship so you don't need to make starship launch fuel

When you get to the Red,Green or Blue star systems look for a planet with their respective resources Red:Caduim Blue:Indium Green:Emeril If you find the activated versions of the resources don't bother as the normal versions actually sell more than the activated versions, when you do you'll need a survey device to look for mining and power hotspots it doesn't matter if it's a C Or B class as long as it provides power you'll be able to make money, You'll need electromagnetic generators (I think that's what their called) for the power hotspots, Mineral extractors and Storage for the Mining hotspots if you can't find a power hotspot nearby you can use a Biofuel Furnace the extractors will keep on going unless there is no more power or if there is no more space in the storage silos
