The Polyphia song Memento Mori (Feat. Kiillstation) was blocking the video so I had to cut it out from the full album reaction. Here's the reaction to that song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bme2l2SHbrySfNk

I love how they structured their album, it starts with jazzy and almost upbeat songs and then start getting more technical until it ends with straight up metal vocal, super cool

Fun fact about ABC- tim wrote that 26 note riff in 140 BPM and then went to sophia and asked her if she could sing something to it, hence the alphabet.
@shredgod63942 жыл бұрын
I haven't counted the notes of the riff but I promise you she doesn't sing the full alphabet. Listen carefully. First of all it ends with Y. There is no Z. Second, if you really listen and follow along, it says ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRST WXY It skips U, and V as well as Z. So she sings 23 notes.

@@shredgod6394 Yeah you are wrong lol, I just listened again and heard every single letter. The Z is absolutely tossed in almost breathlessly at the end slightly gapped from the rest, but is audible.

33:35 that was Scott Lepage. My favorite part about this band.
@Rukiman_no167 ай бұрын
I think that Scott adds a lot to the band. It's like Tim and Scott complement each other. Many of Tim's riffs are great but don't always have a good melody, while Scott manages to give it that melodic metal guitar to relieve so many harmonics and chords. He's probably one of my favorite guitarists for being able to work so well in that frame.

09:33 yeah man they do thumping, it's a technique commonly seen in slap bass, they thump on guitars though! Love it 👌 when they use a pick and still use their pinky, ring and middle finger it's known as hybrid picking.... Which the bassist also does.... 🤯 Love you're reactions/analysis vids bro, keep it up 👌x
@darkstar81962 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Animals As Leaders made the thumping more popular. Incredibly difficult to pull off on guitar. Tried it myself lol. Mostly just muting the notes and plucking/somewhat slapping

@@darkstar8196 oh shit yeah my god I need to throw myself into a pit of fire for forgetting Tosin and Javier ripped thumping hard about 5 years prior to polyphia coming out. 🤦🏻♂️ Thumping maybe hard but it's so much fun! I've not tried it on guitar (I'm a bass player... Even though my pic shows me playing guitar 😅) at all but it certainly unlocks a lot of tasty riffage! 🤟

@@martyzilla I mean, technically its been around for a while, but they're the first I'm aware of to evolve it in that way.

@@martyzilla Tim learned thumping from Tosin himself n then developed it into the mad hybrid stuff we see. Mastered it now. Genuinely don’t think Tosin could write anything like The Audacity.

Both tim and scott are very good at hybrid picking, where they with a pick whilst also using the other fingers to play notes, and they tend to utilize it in most of their music

From what I know, their live stuff is also very few pedals. They use a lot of Neural DSP now and I think they even run Quad Cortex's live, I know they do in the studio, but there's audio drop out when changing channels so idk if that's fixable for live. Scotty uses like two pedals though.
