How cool. I've long considered traveling all the small SC towns. I did get to visit many with my father back in the 1970s. Our family moved down from NY in the 1940s after WW2 and settled in Walterboro (great little town you need to visit in the lowcountry). Watching your travels takes me back to those summer days growing up in a small SC town during 70s,80s. I look back now and realize I was living through a major milestone of decline for small towns in SC as textile plants closed and manufacturing moved overseas. Which arguably was what a held a portion of these towns together for so long after the railroads stopped. When I see your videos and/or go through an old main street and see the architecture of many of the buildings I am awed and saddened. I marvel at the craftsmanship. I think about all the shopkeepers of long ago,the builders, just the people who loved, lived and are now gone from each of these places. Towards the end of living in Walterboro the last of those born in the 1920s-30s who ran the shops on Main streets, the feed and seeds passed away. Most of those of us born in the 60s and later left as we hit adulthood for better opportunity. Anyway, appreciate you letting us all tag along, and appreciate your kind/thoughtful manner. I'll keep watching to see if you make it to Walterboro. Safe travels!

Florence, SC, was named after Florence Henning Harlee, the daughter of William Wallace Harllee, the first president of the Wilmington and Manchester Railroad, who, in 1853, purchased land there to build a depot at the intersection of three rail lines, which inspired the town to develop as a railroad terminal. The state legislature chartered the town in 1871, and it became an important transportation hub for the Pee Dee region of South Carolina. During the Civil War, Florence was the site of a large Confederate prison camp. Florence, SC, was incorporated in 1890 following the creation of Florence County, SC, in 1888. The city is the county seat of Florence County. In 1719, 152 years before its charter, the city of Florence was part of one of the original townships laid out by England's King Charles II's eight Lords Proprietors, whom the King gave the lands of the Carolina to in the 17th century to develop as adjunct jurisdictions of the Crown. The Florence of today is known to have a strong economy and vibrant local scene and culture; two main reasons the city's motto is "Full life, Full forward." The city continues to expand and offer its residents more opportunities in careers and housing. Throughout the downtown area is ongoing revitalization/restoration and beautification projects to renew, reinvigorate, and return that area back to its former glory as the main place to be. Florence also offers its residents and visitors a plethora of outdoor recreational activities, including golf and a variety of beautiful parks. Kayaking excursions through the SC Revolutionary Rivers Trail brings countless adventurous visitors to Florence and the stomping grounds of Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion, who was known as the infamous Swamp Fox in the 18th century. Timothy, I really enjoyed your walk and talk tour of Florence, SC. GOD bless!

Nope Florence was chartered as a result of the railroad stockade, Civil War prisoners... The railroad is Florence's humble beginnings... Lynches ruver is 7 miles outside of town..The Big Pee Dee is about 38 miles from town crossing at Johnsonville SC... It is 60 miles to the beach Myrtle Beach 60 miles to Columbia SC the capitol 80 miles to Charleston SC 4 hours from the Mountains Ashville SC😢

Yeah unfortunately I came across this local video I really don't understand the purpose of the video. Nothing personal but why go through every town in South Carolina because you in the document him you're trying to prove a point there's some political issue so again don't waste people's time or try to think that you're going to monetize by doing every Town square in South Carolina actually have a purpose behind it that people can get involved with. 😂😂🎉😂

First off Sir, your comments are unwarranted. I actually appreciate people who make these videos. I'm planning a move to South Carolina and watching has helped me narrow down which towns to visit. Thank you Timothy for your videos...keep 'em coming! 😀
