Mowing is my side gig during the summer. Been doing it solo for about 5 years now. I’m a teacher during the school year and on my 10th yr. I got about 20-25 which isn’t much but mowing after school till it gets dark is tough especially on the 90 degree or higher days. Stay hydrated and make sure you eat!

I’ve been solo for the last 5 years. I’m in north Texas and around here like clock work every year in July-August the rain stops and the heat is intense. So the lawns will go dormant until September. It’ll start raining again. Then there’s like one last surge until mid October. Stay safe out there sir. This heat is no joke!

Keep it small...keep it all? I'm solo myself since retiring from USAF (24+) and then 18 years of cutting grass. Just turned 60 and I keep a running conflict with myself over if I want to be done with it as well. Chatter really picks up on those hot days when I'm busting my @$$ and equipment has minor malfunctions or breaks. You have to make a living doing something. Whatever lifestyle you have outside these videos needs time too. Would doing fewer yards without "employees" equate to less wear and tear on YOU? Or are you too eager or have financial NEED to not pull back on the $$ / enjoy life a bit more? Tough questions when you are young. Not any easier at 60. lol . Makes for a quick cash side hustle even if you quit the formal route. Having the gear is almost like having a personal ATM if you have the energy to work. Truck and trailer can be used to make money as well. Another bonus -- Grass never talks back. Customers and bosses never shut up.

As always, enjoy the videos. I’ve been in lawn care 20 years this year and I’ve had many ups and downs. By far the hardest thing is getting employees and retaining them. I’ve been solo several times in the last 20 years but it’s always worked out. Your hard work and perseverance will pay off in the end I can promise you that.

Now, the worst part is it gets lonely lol, I'm constantly calling my wife headed to the next job. I have done 15 residential in one day, most i was able to do. Man it's tough but all the money is mine. Downfall i can't take on any other projects when it's mowing season. As of right now we are pretty much solo, now what I mean is we have 4 crews each crew has two people the crew leader and the trimmer person. Crew leader gets the list of who gets mowed that day which never changes unless it rains. Trimmer person is in charge of the trailer, gas, water, ice trimmer line at the start of day pretty much prepping what they need for the day it only takes a few minutes.all of the people that got hirer were school kids high and college so now we have 4 people in four trucks doing their own thing. I like it better I know the job is done correct and only takes a extra five minutes to do the job they did
