Hello, as someone who lives in Turkey, I would like to say that Gallipoli is not a sandy land, but rather full of short grass, bushes and short trees (by short, I mean short, I mean they are about the same height as an adult man), it is a slightly rocky land, other than that, it is slightly hilly in some places. there is not much elevation

the gallipoli campaign failed mostly because there was A LOT of mountains the ottomans fired from, attacking was nearly impossible for anzac forces because wherever they looked ottomans would shoot them from 8 other places, if you look at pictures or google maps today you can still see trenches and the insane amount of mountains that bleed anzac forces dry

During the battle between anzacs and ottomans an anzac commander got injured. But no one could help him. Then an ottoman soilder pulled out a white flag. The battle stopped. The ottoman soilder carried the anzac commander to the anzac trench. Then he turned back and the battle continued. 😢
