There's a reason why one of those brands is "the brand" and has been for over a hundred years. Still, though, great effort in what you produced... very impressive and a cool backstory!

@Corter Leather This is one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. My Dad had a leather kit he used for making western belts, but to memory I don't think he ever had presses, just the dies to which I believe he used a rubber mallet to set and/or cut what he needed. He had the dies of the whole alphabet in Capital letters and a hole punch. I still have the letters and hole that he used!!! I was hoping you would show the sewing/stitching process, and he would come also!!!!

Did they ever make more than those 2 shells where the back was kinda funky looking? This was a full development process over 6 months and you can only do it with specific colors because shell takes different dyes in different ways, getting the blend right and consistent on a fully glazed run is admittedly a bit different than a couple test shells.

@@MrOldclunker Actually, horween leather is a biproduct of the meat industry from Belgium and Quebec. The hide would otherwise be thrown away. All the hides are tanned in Chicago. Now that you know, what do you think? I think it means more people should use real leather and not these plastic "vegan" leathers that have been popping up the last few years.

they are expensive for sure, I think it's like $8 or $9 per stitching hole. However they're an investment that pays dividends in the end, ours are 10 years old with 10's of thousands of impressions on them and never been sharpened, speeds up our process around 60% and makes every piece the same so you get solid dependable quality hiring not-so-skilled people if you need to scale. It's all up to what your business plan is, and you can totally do a little bit with holes for rivets and snaps without going full bore with the stitch holes too if you use a sewing machine
