**It’s good to mention that you’ll be paying for the customers order up front vs them paying for it. So it’s a good idea to have $ put back for your orders. You’ll get reimbursed through etsy but initially your bank account has to recover the funds to print their orders. Everything has a cost to it from the orders to the subscriptions and it can be disheartening when you’re just starting out, low sales. Not to be discouraged though, just be aware of all the extra fees and the upfront costs most people forget to share when setting up store fronts.

I don’t necessarily think people are just lazy, but rather that they don’t have the money and resources to keep going with things like this. When everything has a subscription cost, product cost, requires advertising, a platform, etc. it’s hard to get noticed or make it anywhere.

I m following many POD mentors on KZbin, not even a single one (may be one I don't know yet) has crossed a million followers on KZbin. It's truly your honesty that you never hide an even small thing in the process. I hope you will always be ahead of the competition. She's not paying back society, she's profiting off KZbin. She has actually left some things out of this video. Her results are not normal and it is likely that most people won't make this money on Etsy. Most lose money as Etsy is notoriously bad to new account holders. They favour the ones that are already doing well. They also block accounts and take some down while leaving actual offenders UP. My 2c. I mean, what she's teaching here COULD work, but it is unlikely. :)

I honestly think the people who say 'etsy is over-saturated with POD' are the ones copying other's bestsellers and hitting those high-comp niches like nursing and dog parents. I'm researching my own store and I've found a honeypot of a niche; huge demand, low supply. Better yet I understand the customer bc I'm one of them, but every time I research an idea i find a niche that's just not being supplied. Developing the ability to have ideas and research them is 90% of a shop's success.

@penelopesparrow
@penelopesparrow 10 ай бұрын
@@chelseafisher6881 no I'd never heard of it, just looked it up now. Interesting read to me as this 'blue ocean' method has always been my approach to things. When I started etsy I sold jewelry, but i was an artist so it was different than anything out there. That's the approach etsy shops used to have, it was about makers with goods so unique the market had to be created/found. Now most etsy sellers are just poaching what exists; unless that's better or cheaper, it won't work. They expect low investment to bring high return, but bc theres so many out there, its now typically mid investment mid return, it might even be more like a straight up gamble, depending on what 'niche' they pick. I found my niche the same way a lot of etsy shops did- I wanted something particular and couldn't find it. *That* is what people need to do in POD now; everyone's forgotten the 'low supply' part and are just going after 'high demand'. The other thing people forget is that most of us don't really need 50k a month 😆 my niche won't bring me that and its probably why no one's done it. Its the boutique approach; I'm small enough that I can harness a smaller market and still get my revenue goal. Anyway sorry for the huge reply LOL I am a nerd for this! (Should start my own channel...)

@@cr0uchingtiger your own intuition. erank everbee etc can only be taken as flat data, we don't know how much of that is organic vs paid/falsified traffic. Pick an idea, look around a lot, trust your instincts. Do that until you find a healthy niche with 2 or 3 smaller niches in it. There's no quick way to do this unless you set up a shop, list a huge amount of random stuff, throw $$ into advertising and then just start making more in the keywords of what actually sells.

An important distinction everyone should know here: The $ values shown appear to be gross revenue. That is, the total amount of money customers have paid. By the time you subtract Etsy fees, Printify fees, taxes and general running costs you'll be looking at a net profit of ~18%. That shiny $3,717 revenue figure shown translates to somewhere in the ballpark of $670 per week in your hand. While that doesn't sound terrible, note that this is from 134 sales with an average sale price of ~$27.75 per shirt. So, based on the numbers I can find, and assuming 20% tax (conservative), you'd be getting ~$5 per shirt in-hand. The rest of that $27.75 goes to fees and taxes. In other words, if you can't make at least 10 sales per day, don't bother. This would give you ~$350 in your hand each week.

Not because I used a "process" but because I came up with good ideas customers wanted. Whiles you video is good but please don't misguide normal people on KZbin. After 12 minutes on your video when you are talking about the Ads and ROI, etc, you said that your ROI is minimum 3 times and then later you said that for every $1, you made $4.57. This is a misguiding information because for every $1, you didn't made $4.57 but this $4.57 was your "Sale" i.e. the total revenue you generated i.e. number of product sold x unit price of product. This was not your profit. So effectively you spent more than 20% on your adds (1 divide by 4.57). Now, from the remaining amount, there would be your cost to the product and then any remaining amount, if any, would be the profit. So, please don't attract the normal people on video by showing them glossy picture but be genuine to explain the real story and true facts. Hope you understand as it may impact life of 100s and 1000s of people. Thanks you.

Well, that would be the viewer's fault, not Sarah. All you have to do is research. There are a lot of options out there. This is just one. This video is primarily meant to get the juices flowing and encourage you. If you do YOUR OWN due diligence, and research all these websites and read all the fine print LIKE YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO, then you'll figure all that out... If anyone jumped into this after ONLY looking at her videos, especially having zero experience with graphics, artwork, programs, ecommerce, or even computers in general...that's all on them. Her videos are extremely useful, and if you take the time to research literally everything you can, you'll have no problem figuring things out. Problem with people these days is they watch a video and it dramatically changes their life...rather than using it as a simple, informational tool for your own benefit. You drop everything and start doing what the internet tells you. Man, you have to be conscious and use your brain. YOU are the only one who can make yourself successful. Don't expect YT videos to do it for you. Most people have no clue what they're doing...they're here for money and not because they are passionate about this line of work and have been doing it for 30 years myself...alot of you are people suffering from our modern day depression. So...what do you expect? Your demographic is everyone now - not just graphic designers. So you get smart people and less knowledgeable people...and different results. Make sense? You're upset because Sarah is highly intelligent and she's in a good pocket, knows what she's doing. The costs of programs and subscriptions and options should not be surprising. That's been a thing for at least 30 decades I've been working in graphics. She is also kind enough to drop lots of secrets about these businesses. You should be grateful for the wisdom she IS willing to provide us... Thanks.

A lot of the information was interesting, but I was most interested in your walkthrough for distressing images. Unfortunately, even using the exact same distressed image from Creative Fabrica that was shown in the video and following the step by step guide, the end result was...rather unsightly. On the final t-shirt at least. Is there anyway we can at some point get a more detailed walkthrough for that?

I do understand from your perspective but the truth is though, from my personal experience, as I shared in this video, there is so much room to come in and carve out your own portion of the market even if a brand new store by filling a gap in the marketplace, which is exactly what the section of the video 2:00 is all about. There are plenty of ways to do that, this was just the technique I used. And the honest truth is that most new stores I see do not fill a gap in the market and they just fade into the background. Even taking the funny parrot t-shirts as an example - there were so few good designs. There is so much room in that niche for great products. Yet everyone is copying that 1 Fast Food t-shirt instead 😉

Exactly. They keep making videos saying, "Just go to Etsy ..." But Etsy is not on-board friendly, depending on your country/region. They like many other portals restrict regions such as the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, etc from registering as if we are nobody. Very biased and stereotypical of them & frankly speaking, quite annoying.

Happy New Year to you too! I wish you and your family a happy & prosperous 2024. I will be honest, I actually have no idea, I didn't really track it. It was truly something I just did in my spare time and I was pretty busy when I first launched it and took me a few weeks just to get my first 20 products up in it. I think I got my first sale around item 20 being added in. So it probably took 2-3 weeks? It is a snowball effect, that is why the Etsy 30-day experiments you see on KZbin are, IMHO, not a good experiment to run. To run a true experiment I believe you need to do it over several months because of the way the algorithm works, it snowballs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rGTNdmWng9lmf5o How much time I spend is super variable: it was anywhere from 2-20 hours/week chipping away at it depending on how much spare time I had and how much I got inspired to work on it, LOL! How many designs I add is also super variable. If you averaged it out, it is probably 1-3 designs a day, but I don't always upload daily, that is just what it would be if you averaged it out, if that makes sense 🌞

Hello, Sarah! Thanks for the valuable content. I understand that Canva images are rendered at 96 DPI, and t-shirt images do best with 300DPI+; so how were you able to eventually get a DPI of 300 or above for upload to Printify? Is there something you did while processing your images after downloading from Canva? I'm wondering if Photopea helped with that.
@WholesaleTed
@WholesaleTed 10 ай бұрын
7:49 is actually a dedicated section to saving images for print! When you increase the image size, when it is resized for the printing area, it will print in 300dpi. That is why Canva added in the 3.125x setting (it used to be 3x only, which meant it printed in 280dpi, but now it is the full 300dpi)

Hi Sarah, I have a question about using Canva for POD. If I have a Canva Pro account can I use any of the Pro elements and fonts as long as I combine the clip art with text or should we only use the "FREE" elements? I'm just wondering because I've seen some people saying you can't upload Canva elements to POD sites, but maybe that's only the case if we don't use the elements combined to make a unique design. Thanks for any info you may have on this. Thanks for another great and helpful video!!!

Great question. Canva have clarified you can use their pro elements as long as you do not sell them as is. You must do something like combine them with text to turn them into a new design. There was drama/rumors that falsely spread, earlier last year from people who said you couldn't do that, and so now unfortunately there are a bunch of wrong videos on KZbin that were released during those rumors. Canva came out and released a statement saying they weren't true 🙏

Printify is expensive and there is hardly any room for margin to make money. Not to be a Debbie Downer, but it sure is 1000% easier when you already have established an audience on your platform. Your instructions turn into misleading drivel later on in the video. When you point people to placeit, you are correct in saying photos it provides can be used for free. What you fail to let anyone know is that you must pay to download the photo once you've placed your design on it, either a 1-time fee, or they lock you into a subscription, of which you must pay for at least 1 month if you choose to download anything. in other words, going through this video requires you to create literally half a dozen different accounts, and sign up with subscriptions for at least 3 of them. Very disappointing to see you either purposefully (and maliciously) or just ignorantly provided this video without clarifying this fact.

Sarah, let me ask you something if you don't mind. When you said you "quietly posted" about the new Etsy store with Canva clip art, did you post the link and/or name of your store? IF you did, then that would be a reason it's successful, simply due to the fact that you would have told over a million subscribers about it. If you did not post it, then that's great. By the way, $200.00 per week sounds good to some of us, but what other outlets besides Etsy do you find successful? Etsy is a no go for me.

Good question. The answer is NO! Absolutely NOT! And I absolutely understand why you ask that. I watched one video from a big influencer make a simple ebook as an experiment, released it, and then was amazed that people bought it. But it had his name as the author, and as he is a popular influencer, people will buy it just because it has his name on it. It was a valuable video but if we're going to be honest, to run a true experiment, you have to do so anonymously.
