I made a Dell Monitor mounting adapter bracket

Unable to source a VESA Mount Adapter Bracket for a Dell Monitor due to them being sold out / currently unavailable, in true Handyman Savage style, we make our own.
I bought a generic VESA mount which won't fit these annoying Dell out of the box, thanks to Dell being Dell and wanting you to shell out on their own adapters.
In this video, I will show you how to make your own bracket that will connect the Monitor to the Mount via our DIY bracket.
This will definitely work on the ST-series of Dell Monitors below:
Dell ST2420L, ST2421L, ST2421LB, ST2220L, ST2220LC, ST2220M, ST2321L, ST2321LF, and ST2320L
You can buy didn't size elbow brackets to fit other models as well.
All parts can be bought for pocket change at any DIY / Hardware store.

Thanks so much for this video :-D Quick question, is it strong enough to rotate the monitor into portrait mode too?

Hi, the bracket will only hold that particular monitor in landscape only as the mount is from below and you rest the monitor on top. I very much doubt the monitor will be stable in Portrait, but the mount could easily be adapted to suit whatever style of mode with extra support.

You can get the parts from most DIY shops or you may just have them lying around in a workshop or garage. Then simply follow the video to make the bracket. It's not something you buy, this is a DIY build.

Can screen go vertical and stay stable?

This particular monitor only has an opening for horizontal mounting only. If you have a monitor which allows rotation, this bracket should work for vertical mounting.

Would you look up Dell Monitor 4WH45AA#ABA - look at the back of monitor bump out. I need to attach the monitor to a NB Northern Bayou monitor. Would appreciate help -

@@HandymanSavage Well my friend after days I got through to HP. They have nothing stating stand hole is very small like a square. I asked about taking the back off - dont want to but drilling holes and putting small bolts out the back to mount. They said it is not designed for the weight, It seems and I am just thinking outside the box those mounts that have the long arms to connect over the edge but having a material for the bottom that could bend or like a thick rubber bungee type material that fits over the dumb bump out. I do not suppose it is possible for us to email and not have others see our data? I would just like to think up possible ideas before giving up..Regards - Bill

Hi Bill, thanks for the background. Well that looks like a 32-inch monitor so HP are right about the additional weight issue. From the pics, that HP model stand pole looks no wider than a straw (lol). The Dell monitor I used in the video is smaller (possibly 23-24 inch) so lighter and the stand pole is wider to spread the weight of the monitor. I've used this solution since that video and it's still used every day and not failed yet (it will probably fail now I said it) I reckon with the combination of the weight of your HP and the pencil-thin stand, you might be best replacing it or looking at raised shelves depending on how you want to place it.
