For any viewers wondering why Blender Game Engine (BGE) got removed: time. Imagine Eevee Next, Cycles X, or getting pushed back another year or two just because the main dev teams don't have time. Why? Because with every feature adds more for the dev team to maintain. While contributors can help, especially with quick bug fixes, the reality is that most changes are still done by the core dev teams (they do hire people to help, but that requires more money). It's the same reason why they completely removed the old Eevee in favor of the new one: they simply have no time to manage both. The good news is, due to Blender's license, several existing FREE apps branch off of Blender as a game engine. Including the add-on stache mentioned. And these dedicated developers do have the time to make changes, fix bugs, etc. that the core team doesn't. That's the beauty of open source: anyone can change the source code to fit their needs. Blender's developers need all the love they can get; letting them focus on bigger priorities for their ever-widening audience is more important to me.

@@chidorirasenganz for photorealism, it's pretty similar + a lot of new features. But there is some features missing for stylized renders that was in OG Eevee. Blender is working some features to compensate, but I know some artists staying on 4.1 because of it

A few tips for your prompts. When you prompt for something within a specific knowledge domain, it’s best to start with a role like “You are an experienced blender script developer, experienced python developer etc”. And ending prompts a good modifier is “Think logically and carefully explaining you answer. Also for any coding it’s best to request all code be “commented step by step” that way you it’s more easy to understand the code chatgpt is providing you

I worked with Blender source code on my previous job - we tried to use BGE and blender creator itself to integrate it into our app and I'm afraid it is not possible or really hard to bring Blender game engine back to life at the state it was. Blender has lots of features, its meant to be offline, and make it realtime is a hard challenge. BGE was built on top of Blender, it is a separate software integrated into blender interface, so you need to make the job twice when you implement a feature. Also the architecture is not suitable for realtime. Blender has so called "depsgraph" which halfs the performance and it is not easy to disable it. Shaders was recompiled each frame (at least previously) which ofcourse is slow. Blender has problems with objects naming which makes it harder to make some sort of prefabs and so on and so forth. But ngl I wish to had it back because blender cutted some cool features in 2.80 update.

I would love to have blender as a game engine. But in my experience with projects that try to bring bge back is that the performance is always really bad :/. Thats about it though otherwise it would make for a great engine.

I've made some games with the UPBGE project which is a project to bring Blender Game Engine to modern blender builds. However it sadly has very bad performance issues. :(
