I'm a high school senior and I run a 25:00 5K. Three weeks ago I lost my parrot. I thought about that during the race and dropped a sub-20:00. It was a fast course, but still. Your videos are inspirational and educational. You helped me through this season. Thank you!

I'm sorry about your parrot man, but that is awesome though, I love a sub 20 minute 5k. I'm close to breaking 18 minutes with a 18:09 on a fast course, so I'm really excited to see if I can break that soon. Good job man!

When I first heard of the title of this race, I thought...good Lord, he's going to run this dressed as a pumpkin! Wow, both you and Allie missed turns in your videos posted today, but a win is a win, and you ran fast for that course. Well done!

"there was a huge hill!" - Spence when the slope gets to 6%. Meanwhile Allie is crushing 40%+ hills during trail races. I know I'm just giving you a hard time because you absolutely crushed that even with the wrong turn.

Super solid race considering the missed turn. Sub 15 on a hilly course says a lot about your strength levels. Keep working 🔥

...Of course I guessed correctly. Naturally, the volunteer standing at the corner of that first turn should have directed you in an obvious way, and he should have seen that you were a race entrant from your race number. Maybe he was expecting the lead cyclist to come through first. If you account for the lost time, maybe you would have finished right at around 15 minutes, or you might have just barely missed getting a sub-15:00 time. On the other hand, perhaps you were demoralized by going off course, and also you might have lost your "physiological momentum" as a result of the whole experience. Either one or both of these variables may or may not have caused you to run a slightly slower time than you would have. On the other hand, I think you would try harder after that experience, which may improve you and your future racing overall. Nice Video!

My no spoiler prediction will be 14:45, seeing as you ran 15:19 a couple days after a 50 minute 10 mile race. Edit: After doing complicated calculations I figured out you ran a 14:37 5k without the 18+ seconds lost, and came through the 5k with those 18+ seconds in 14:55, so not only is sub 15 in the question, but you destroyed it running 14:37 for the actual 5k, on a pretty difficult course mind you. So you could probably break 14 minutes on a really flat fast course, or on a track. Keep up the amazing work.

As a race director (I've got a race this Saturday), it is so frustrating when an athlete misses a marker. Hey, why are those cones on the road? I could see the cones were compromised by the slightly busier street, meaning a race director can't stick them out into a busy street and interfere with traffic. Apparently there was a volunteer manning the corner and since you were the first runner maybe they weren't awake yet (that's why they serve coffee to the volunteers in the morning), but they certainly could have taken more aggressive action to block you from making that mistake. You clearly had a bib number on so they had to know you were part of the race.

Well what do ya know! Dont worry bro... you aren't a pumpkin head they need to do a better job either marking it or having volunteers who are explained the directions! This is really bringing flashbacks for me cause it was also a 90 degree turn haha

If you didn’t miss the turn and had other guys running around you, sub 15 would have been easy. Always hard running solo, especially at training when you are trying to hit a certain pace. What’s your weekly mileage?

I'm not sure about this one, but all the ones I do are if you "run", you should start in front. Because half the people walk. I'd say sub 20 start in front and like sub 25 start near the front. Always depends on the race though.
