I Made A HUGE MISTAKE With Our Gravel Bikes

Sometimes you make a huge mistake and with our Gravel Bikes I neglected to check something that caused a dangerous failure. But man, I swear this route was cursed or maybe it was just meant to test us and our bikes. Theres one part of a bicycle that is the worst thing to forget to check on a gravel bike ride. Especially in steep, hill country Vermont. but a Gravel Bike Adventure isn't complete without a few unexpected twists and turns! So much happened on this gravel ride in Corinth, Vermont. On this gravel route, we wanted to design a ride in one of the quietest uninhabited parts of Vermont where nothing but the birds and the sound of our gravel plus tires whispering through the landscape, are the ambience. Did we find that? Absolutely! but this serene gravel ride quickly turned into a full-on bike adventure with a few truly scary moments and challenges to overcome. But it's a mix of the beauty, the people, the euphoric moments and the challenging ones, that make a ride truly memorable...and maybe an iced coffee or two. No matter what a ride brings we're always so grateful that you tune in to ride along with us. I truly mean it when I say it feels like I'm always on a huge group ride, knowing you're here with us and that we all get to hang out and talk in the comments. As always, we appreciate that you like, share, and subscribe to our channel so it continues to grow, and we can keep putting out content you enjoy. Let's Roll!
Much Love & Adventure,

You’re both a great advert for showing how beautiful USA is, using a gravel bike to get around. There’s a lot of cycling content on KZbin but I luv how honest your rides are, the content is homely and well worth the time surfing KZbin.

Glad you enjoyed it. Next season it's time for new bikes in general ha ha. The salsas have been through a lot in the past 8 years now. I'm undecided on hydro or not. I like being able to fix cables on the spot for longer journeys and have had equal problems with hydros in my mtn bikes over the years but they definitely stop better. I'm gonna chock this incident up to the fact that we should have replaced the calipers a while back but we're trying to not put anymore money into these bikes and put it toward the new ones for next year. Oops ha ha! Good to hear from you btw.

@@ThatMountainMoment I actually do not even own a gravel bike. Part of the reason is that, living in the city, I do not own a car, which is necessary to get to the Eastern Townships, where the best gravel is. My gravel riding is limited -- for the moment -- to the fine crushed gravel rail bed route called the Petit Train du Nord. I ride on that route, on a steel bike, because I can get to it from downtown Montreal, by train. I also ride on the back roads in the towns along this route, like Ste-Adèle and Ste-Agathe. It is hilly and there's lots of small lakes. There is also the corridor aérobique, which goes through the forest, and is quite good for hot days. Another advantage riding in this area is that you do not need to camp. There are plenty of motels and BnBs along the small villages so you can travel light, all the way to Tremblant.
@ThatMountainMoment
@ThatMountainMoment 7 ай бұрын
@bengt_axle that actually sounds awesome! We love rail trails as well. Sounds like you can see and do a lot on that route. Personally, I just enjoy interesting or beautiful rides no matter what surface the tires are rolling on. Now I really want to take a trip up there!

Oh yes, usually ride 3-4 times a week except winter. 2 bikes, a 26 year old road bike, pavement only, and got a Kona Sutra in 2019 which opened up dirt roads for me. I'm 66 and hopefully can explore them for many more years. May run into you some time. I lived in Campton before moving to Littleton 20 years ago.

@thecrittersitter1
@thecrittersitter1 7 ай бұрын
Love the Sutra, got it for touring/camping which it does magnificently. I'm an old lady, and was a serious roadie for 40 years, but traffic is going nuts. So it was about a 6 month learning curve for me to learn how to get comfortable on dirt, but so glad I did! The network of dirt roads in central and northern VT is staggering and delightful! 6 years exploring so far, not unusual to ride all day and only see a car or two. Heading through Mosquitoville VT tomorrow ever hear of it? 😄
