Kibz, what you encountered at 2:00 seembs to be a bug, the standard recipe for modular frames is the one that uses iron rods and RIP. The recipe you are using is the Steeled Frame alternate recipe

My number one tip for mega-factory building is if you don't know how many machines might be needed in a production line, always build the production line for the next component on the next floor up and leave space for doubling or even quadrupling the initial production lines in the future. Never build a production line at the end of another production line, as it leaves no space for further development of that initial line in cases where you might want to overclock your miners or if you wanted to bring raw materials in from another source.

Start with five times to space you think you need. Then add two extra floors. And a kilometer long belt for the resource that you forgot. And when you're all finished, you get a new recipe. And the whole thing is obsolete.

Idea for the Caterium refinery smokestack problem: Swap which floor is refineries and which is manufacturers. It's a bit inefficient due to long conveyors but if you put the refineries on the top floor and have the smokestacks stick out of the roof, you can then take the Caterium back down a floor to the manufacturers. Plus that'd decrease the distance everything else from the lower floors would have to travel to reach the manufacturers.

kibz, have you tried the Blueprint Designer Plus mod? allows you to create blueprints in a 12x12 space instead of 4x4... i set up a 2x2 of the 12x12 designers, & it lets you make massive segmented modular prefab megafactory blueprints you can whip out onsite & with a few connections, you're running 😃

You should do a factorial challenge make the biggest Factory ever do it by having a starter Factory that makes everything you need like going to the mall and then use that so you can go far away in a train track and then find all the resources you need and start with your mega base

Why not use drones for the plastic, and copper from elsewhere. That would allow you to not need the train, and use the cheaper quick wire recipe. Just a thought

My base game has framework in an assembler. It doesn't use rubber. His game says it's alternate 1

@@kiligir It's not modded but it is an edited save where he unlocked all recipes from the start and increased his inventory size. I believe it's the former that did that, unlocking things out of order can sometimes show an alt recipe as the default. He's also showing the default Modular Frame recipe as Steeled Frame.

@@CruelestChris He does run mods, but I'd accept that the !unlockall command from PAK Utilities (one of the three mods he uses), may have done such a thing. I'm working with a low sample size here (just my own experience), and I've used !unlockall since about my fifth world because the early grind in this game is only really fun the first time. I appreciate your insight. I hadn't thought about that possibility before.

The game itself is pretty easy to run, its just when you start build big factories in the same place. If you want big factories you need to spread them out. I get 60 fps in my main base (lots of loot coming to the same place) and up to 120 in non-factory areas. I recommend building the final main base in a place that has a environment you like, rather than near the nodes (reduce lag). I got i5 12th gen cpu, 32gb ram and 1650S gpu, and a B660M-E D4 tuf gaming motherboard. An ssd is also always nice. Cost about $1200 for those. For a factory like kibitz you’ll need a very beefy computer. But if your new to the game then I recommend keep it simple. I know im not kibitz but i hope this helps
