Recently the channel hit 10k subscribers, (now 12k), and as a thank you, I decided to create a game with your ideas. The game I ended up creating is both 2D, and 3D, and requires you to switch between these dimensions to beat the levels. This was my first ever 3D game, so I'm pretty happy with it.
About me:
Hey, I'm BenBonk, an indie game developer who uses the Unity Engine. I've made and released many small games before on my itch page, though now I'm attempting to make my first commercial game, Slimekeep. Slimekeep is a roguelike, using a very limited color palette, similar to Enter the Gungeon, though with a few interesting mechanics, such as keeping slimes alive longer will earn you more money, and the ability to capture slimes to power up your slime pet. If you enjoyed anything you saw, please consider subscribing, as it really helps me out.

This idea just popped into my head when after he said he didn’t come up with any ideas for the game You start out as a normal guy sitting at his computer making a 2d animation about a little stick figure guy, when suddenly, your computer starts glitching out and the figure from your animation comes to life. Along with your animation coming do life all the colours from your colour wheel disappear. You have to use the ability to switch between the perspectives of the animator looking at his 2d animation from the real world and the 3D view from the perspective of his animation in a solo cooperative journey! Your goal is to get all the colours back (which once unlocked will affect objects in different ways depending on what they’re coloured) in the animated world that was created in the glitch Also to fill the other criteria the only way your animation character can jump is when a music note plays from a song that is controlled by the real person a separate tab on his computer. Along with this since it’s an animation you can pause it from the real world helping your animation character progress through the levels. I don’t actually have anyway to create this but I just thought it was a cool idea, if you read this far thanks :D

Only players and goals and things you can interact are colored and everything else white. You can add some ambience and some cool sky box in background to make game litle bit more interesting and there you got GREAT! Commercial game. I would buy it.

good concept, though i do want to give a few ideas with constructive criticism. another mechanic you could add to build off the switch perspectives is maybe having the size of the player characters, grow or shrink in 2D depending on how frontwards or backwards they are in 3D space. this could open the puzzle possibility of making player platforms or getting blocks into gaps too small in 3D and starting 2D.

Go to Projects Settings -> Physics there is a field for gravity you can set it whatever you want or you can add rigidbody force downwards.

This is so cool. I've seen this before, but I can remember only one game with something similar: RiME.

And I just started playing it and I already found some glitches. On level 2 and above, if you position a player behind a block and then place the other on top of the block and then switch to 2D, the player on top will glitch on top or glitch into the player behind. On level 4, you can position a player on the front right block and then go into 2D making the player in the block. Also, if you time it correctly there is a for about a 0.5 seconds where the collider for the back right block will not activate and you can step onto the smaller block. On this same level, timing it correctly will allow the block behind the block to push you out of the level when you jump. On any level, you can clip into any block and the other player, disabling your jumping ability until the other player is swapped. Furthermore, the players move first when switching between 2D and 3D which means that you may fall straight through the block or the collider of that block or player will be disabled. On the level with 3 cubes, you can get the player next to the wall, jump into it and then somehow access a box collider that extends out of the floating floor next to it, this will then give that player the ability to walk around on any point on that space and jump to other platforms. The ability is then broken when you switch between from 3D to 2D and then back. If the player is not above ground, that player will fall through the void, meaning you have to start the entire game all over again. There are some more bugs but they are all sort of similar to the above bugs, with most of them including colliders and the void.

@@BenBonk No problem. I still want to point out that the game is still great at heart.

When I saw some of those mechanics, I was thinking of a different game than the one that you made, where there could be 2 players playing at once, where one is flat on a 2D surface, and the other is in a 3D space. However, the 2D surface is within the 3D space, so the 3D player can see the 2D one moving about. The object of the game is to communicate things that can’t be seen from the other player in order to solve puzzles.

There’s possibility for several game mechanics, like recursion, where the 2D plane is inside the 3D one, and vice versa.
