@@JosephGodisGood It's definitely cruel to keep a betta in a tiny cup but this tank is plenty! Wild bettas have territories smaller than a square metre, in water that's often 20cm deep or less. They can even survive out of the water for extended periods, allowing them to find a new puddle when their current territory gets too shallow.

If you have the time to do this, I like to place the rocks in the hardscape and just let that layout sit for a few days. This way I can come back to it multiple times with different perspectives. What ends up happening so far is the first layout I set is completely different from the final form.

Whatever works best for you ..... Because I have no doubt that he has more modest commentary than the opposite, and the curiosity to get to know the hardscape prior to starting another build !!! If I had to guess how many scapes he completed the first until the next yet to be seen? 300 is my 2nd choice but I have no idea what it is or even if Mark has been counting? Since he is actually quite the visionary and the professional aquascaper I have a feeling that he is seeing the actual scene well before he has even started. " Get up stand up , stand up for your right " You can always get it right One Day you will find , that your ammonia levels keeps ya up all night .... Get up stand up..... Stand up for your right!!! So he's off again to his LFS... To him its like a game of Chess . To win you gotta make moves , when you can find out the rest your own style is always best ...

I was very curious to see how your UG goes... I believe the trick is no,to very little nutrients. They are a carnivorous plant.. so just like bog/terrestrial carnivorous plants like venus fly traps or pitcher plants, they grow in nutrient depleted soil, which is why they grow well in just sphagnum moss. Its suggested to use RO water with terrestrial carnivorous plants,I think the same should be for UG.. no nutrients are best, which is difficult when you have other plants that need nutrients, in the same tank.

Hi, i have a question. Im struggling to keep the algae under control, i tried APT3 and it gave me GSA and hair algae (after i removed floating plants, with them in, the tank was algae free), i tried EI and filamentous exploded everywhere with GDA too. So i want to do a reset. I want to try a leaner approach (apt3 or even Zero) but this time with a rich substrate (the tank has an inert substrate), so i was thinking about Tropica Aqua Soil (or ada amazzonia). What do you think? should a rich substrate and a leaner ferts resolve my problems? About water change, im doing it 2 times per week and every time i scrape off the glass algae and try m best to keep things clean. My GH is 11 and KH is 8. The tank is Co2 injected.
